Primary 1b Wallacewell Primary

Working well again in P1b!

It’s been another very productive week for our P1 learners yet again.

Our new sounds this week have been ‘f’ and ‘o’ and the class really are mastering their recognition and formation of these sounds as we make our way through the alphabet. We’re also getting much better at spotting where these sounds appear in words and stories. The children produced wonderful pieces of writing describing our fireworks drawings using adjectives!

In numeracy, we’ve looked more at addition this time round and the class have enjoyed using concrete materials to help build their confidence in doing so. Symmetry has been a highly enjoyable concept for the boys and girls as they are beginning to understand just how artistic and creative this area of maths can be.

We explored a little bit of firework safety this week for our topic and the children can now give lots of advice on how to stay safe around this time of year with Bonfire Night and all the colourful firework displays taking place.

Lastly, it’s that time of year where you can be prepared to start hearing Nativity songs at home as we’ve had a chance to listen to a few of the tunes we’ll be practising over the next few weeks. It’s all very exciting and we can’t wait for you to see the children perform!

As always, thanks for your support at home!
