Another Busy Week in Primary 1!

What a wonderful and busy week we’ve had in Primary 1a!

We started the week with big smiles and smart poses as we had our school photographs taken. Everyone looked fantastic, and we can’t wait to see the finished pictures!

In our literacy learning, we were excited to explore two new sounds: ‘p’ and ‘n’. We use catchy songs and fun characters to help us remember each sound—why not ask your child to sing them for you? So far, we’ve learned the sounds s, a, t, p, i, and n, and your support at home with revising these will really help your child’s confidence grow.

In numeracy, we’ve been practising our numbers to 10. We’ve used lots of hands-on activities to help us count, recognise, and form the numbers correctly.

Our classroom has also been full of Superhero energy this week! We’ve been showing kindness and helpfulness to one another and celebrated these super actions by designing our own Supertato characters. It’s been a fantastic way to mix creativity with learning about what it means to be a kind friend.

In music, we’ve been learning all about beat and rhythm. One of our favourite moments was marching to different songs – including the lively Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride from Lilo and Stitch! It really got us moving and grooving in time with the beat.

Thank you for your continued support at home. A little bit of practice each day makes a big difference!

Welcome to Primary 1a

Over the past few weeks, our Primary 1 pupils have done a fantastic job settling into the routines of school life. It’s been a joy to see their growing confidence as they explore new experiences and make new friends.

In the classroom, the children have been working on numbers from 1 to 10 and are beginning to learn their initial letter sounds – an exciting step on their journey to reading and writing!

Lunchtimes have become a familiar part of their day, and they are now confidently navigating the dining hall whether they’re enjoying a school meal or a packed lunch from home. Just a reminder: school lunches can be discussed with your child at home and ordered online for your convenience.

During P.E. sessions, held every Monday and Friday, the children have been learning through games that focus on movement, spatial awareness, and understanding position. Please ensure your child has appropriate indoor shoes for these lessons so they can take part safely and comfortably.

We were also lucky to welcome the M&M Theatre Group, who treated the children to a magical performance of Alice in Wonderland. The show was colourful, engaging, and truly captured the children’s imaginations — a lovely experience for all.

Lastly, homework will be issued next week, so please keep an eye out for it in your child’s school bag.
