We have had a busy and exciting week packed with lots of different activities. In Literacy, we revised our second set of sounds (r, m, d, e, c, k) and used our magnetic letter boards to build CVC words. We also drew the witch from Room on the Broom and wrote a sentence describing her as helpful and kind. Our playroom topic has also been inspired by Room on the Broom, and the children have loved making spells and potions to practice their counting skills, as well as taking on the role of the witch in our role-play area!
In Maths, we turned our attention to money by exploring 1p, 2p, 5p, and 10p coins. We looked closely at their colours, sizes, and shapes to help us recognise them, and we have even started exploring how to make different amounts up to 5p and 10p.
During our PATHS lesson we discussed feeling scared and afraid, looking at how these emotions show up in our facial expressions and body language and sharing the things that sometimes make us feel this way.
Finally in RME, we learned the story of Noah’s Ark and the children had a wonderful time making and building their own boats to keep all of the animals safe from the floods.
What a fabulous first week of learning in Term 2 for Primary 1A!
