Primary 1a Wallacewell Primary

Term 2 Adventures Begin!

It’s Term 2 already! Primary 1a have returned after the holidays full of energy, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn.

This week, we’ve been busy exploring repeating patterns using pegs, people, colours, and shapes — creating some wonderfully colourful designs!

In numeracy, we’ve been learning about the story of 10, working with number bonds. The children chose a number and found their partner to make a total of 10. Fantastic teamwork and number sense on display!

In literacy, we’ve been revising our letter sounds — please keep practising these at home too. Our story focus has been Room on the Broom, and we’ve had great fun writing descriptions of the witch and retelling the story in lots of different ways.

During music, our tutor helped us explore halving numbers through rhythm and song. We started with 8 actions, halved to 4, then 2, then 1 — and finished with a big “Bananas!” to celebrate our success! We also learned that “forte” means loud and “piano” means quiet — how clever are we? 🎶

In our playroom, we’ve been learning about forces through our Room on the Broom theme — exploring push, pull, and friction. Activities included hammering pegs into pumpkins and racing cars on different surfaces.

A quick reminder: P.E. is on Monday and Friday. Please send in a P.E. kit that can stay in school during the week and go home on Fridays for washing.

We’ve had a magical start to Term 2 and can’t wait for all the learning adventures ahead!
