What a fun and action-packed week we’ve had in Primary 1a!
In PE, we’ve been working hard to develop our movement and balance skills using benches, mats, and hoops. We’ve been climbing, jumping, balancing, and exploring different ways to move safely and confidently around the gym hall.
We also had a visit from our music tutor, who taught us all about pitch and beat. We explored pitch using chime bars—we noticed how the size of the bar changes the sound—and used shakers and maracas to keep the beat while listening to a song from Encanto. It was so much fun moving and playing along with the music!
In the classroom, we’ve been very creative this week. We designed our own space pictures and wrote about our journey into space, describing all the amazing things we could see up there in the stars!
In literacy, we’ve been learning two new sounds: ‘r’ and ‘m’. We’ve enjoyed discovering the actions and stories that go along with each sound, helping us remember and use them in our reading and writing.
In numeracy, we’ve been making continuous patterns and spotting them in all kinds of places—on clothes, in nature, and even in our classroom! It’s amazing how patterns are all around us.
A highlight of the week was a special visit from our grown-ups! They joined us for a Health and Wellbeing lesson where we learned about “Doing the Turtle”—a calming strategy that helps us pause, breathe, and think before we react when we’re feeling upset. It’s a great technique to try at home too!
We’ve worked so hard and had such a great week—we’re definitely ready for a well-earned rest.
Happy holiday weekend from all of us in Primary 1a!
