Now that the World Cup had finally started it’s been great to use this global event as part of our learning in P6.  I’m numeracy this week we looked at chance and probability and how this can be used in every day life, including football. We took our learning outdoors, here are some of our chance and probability activities;

We took the opportunity to watch England Vs Iran and played a game by looking at some statistics including how many throw ins and fouls there were. Here’s a photo of the winning table!

Sadly it was the final week of our student teachers from Oman being in our class. However they have a fantastic science show as a send off

Hello again everyone, term 2 is already in full swing and everyday brings a new adventure.  P6 are very lucky to have a student teacher, Miss Stewart, to help in class with our learning and experiences.

The following will be covered over the term;

Literacy:

Reading, we will continue with our study of Wonder.  This is an amazing text that facilitates high quality discussion within the class.  We will then change our focus to the Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol.

Writing, we will using the environment around us to help immerse ourselves into setting as part of our writing.  We will always be studying the use of character in our writing by using creative descriptions such as onomatopoeia, similes and alliteration.

Numeracy, the 4 operations (+-x/) will always be key to effective numeracy skills.  In addition to this we will always focus on shape, angles, length and money

Topic, using all aspects of the curriculum we will look closely at the major sporting event of the World Cup overt the next 4 weeks.  Each pupil will be assigned a country competing in Qatar and use their research skills to produce a high quality Independent Project.
