This post contains important information for parents/carers wishing to enrol their daughter at Notre Dame High School.
Key Contacts
Mrs Henderson manages enrolment for girls joining us from Primary 7 and has responsibility for enrolling pupils in S1 and S2. Mr Kane has responsibility for enrolling pupils in S3 and S4 and Mr O’Neill has responsibility for enrolling pupils in S5 and S6.
Living within our catchment – P7 into S1
All girls living within our catchment area and currently attending a denominational primary school will automatically enrol for a place as part of our new S1 cohort. We will contact parents/carers in mid-April to outline specific details in relation to our P7 induction day in May. We are in a unique position in the local authority in that we only have two associated primary schools (Notre Dame Primary and St. Ninian’s Primary). Our annual induction events cannot be confirmed until around April. This is largely because of the number of pupils joining our new S1 cohort through the placing request system. Some pupils at Corpus Christi primary school are entitled to enrol with us a part of our catchment intake. However, not all girls at Corpus Christi qualify in this way. For those attending Corpus Christi but residing out with our catchment, it is necessary to submit a placing request.
Living out with our catchment and within Glasgow City Council – P7 into S1
Parents/Carers of all pupils living out with our catchment area will need to submit a placing request application. If your daughter attends a primary school within Glasgow City Council, then you should be able to request a form from the school office at your daughter’s current school. The form should be completed and sent to:

Living out with our catchment but not within Glasgow City Council – P7 into S1
Parents and carers of girls currently attending a primary school out with Glasgow City Council should contact the North-West Area Support team at the address and phone number shown above. A form will then be sent to you. Once completed the form should be sent to the address shown above. Parents and carers of pupils joining us from another country will also need to submit a placing request unless your daughter has moved into our local catchment area.
Pupils joining us from Non-Denominational Primary Schools
Each year we welcome several pupils from non-denominational primary schools. By default, your daughter will be enrolled for her catchment non-denominational secondary school. Parents and carers will need to submit a placing request in line with the procedures detailed above.
Pupils joining us after the beginning of S1 (All year groups S1-S6 inclusive)
The principles outlined above are the same for pupils joining us after the beginning of S1. Many girls join our school community throughout the academic year. If you do make a midterm request, then we will contact you as soon as your details are passed onto us by the local authority.
Turnaround times and the decision making process
We realise that many parents/carers of P7 girls will make placing requests as early as the November prior to their daughter starting at Notre Dame. The local authority process all requests and will usually confirm places during April and May. This can be a frustrating time for parents and carers as months can pass between a request and confirmation. Please be assured that this is not unusual and is not an indication that your daughter is not going to receive a place. As soon as the school are given permission to contact parents/carers we will do so.
The school has no direct input in the process and will not contact parents/carers until a decision has been made at local authority level.
Midterm placing requests are handled in the same manner but the turnaround time is quicker. You will usually hear from the school within two or three weeks of the request being submitted. The local authority will ask us to process requests once they have been approved and only if there is still space within the relevant year group cohort. We will arrange a meeting to discuss the transfer and girls will usually join us within ten school days of the meeting.
The North-West area support team are best placed to answer any further questions that you may have. Nevertheless, we will always endeavour to assist you. If you would like to discuss enrolment with us, then please call the school on 0141 582 0190 or email us at office@notredamehigh.glasgow.sch.uk
