New Entrants & Enrolment

PRIMARY 1 ENROLMENT

There is now an additional school registration week for parents which will take place in November as well as January.

The exact week will be advertised in the local press, the shops and of course in all of our local pre-5 establishments.

You give us the relevant details and we enter your child’s name on our list of entrants. All you need to bring is a copy of your child’s birth certificate and proof of address.

For enrolments throughout the year, contact the school for an appointment.

Parents may visit the school throughout the year by appointment and of course the parents/guardians of the new Primary 1 children can have a look around the school during the enrolment week.

Further detailed guidance is provided by Education Services, please see link below.

IN TERM ENROLMENT

If a prospective pupil lives within the catchment area then the child will be enrolled in the school provided there is capacity.  Applications are made online using the following link:

If the pupil lives outside the catchment area then the parent/carer will have to make a placing request.

Placing Request forms are available from GCC Business & Customer Services at the following link:
Please note, you are advised that it may not always be possible to accommodate your request.

SECONDARY ENROLMENT

At the end of Primary 7, children transfer from Knightswood Primary to Knightswood Secondary School:

Knightswood Secondary School
60 Knightswood Road
Glasgow G13 2XD
Tel. No. (0141) 582 0160
Website: http://www.knightswood-sec.glasgow.sch.uk/

Children are normally transferred between the ages of 11½ and 12½ so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least 4 years of secondary education. Parents and carers will be informed of the school arrangements no later than December of the year preceding the date of transfer at the start of the new session.

P7 visits to Knightswood Secondary School are arranged at various times and secondary teachers work with and visit P6 and P7 in their classrooms.

Parents can send their child to another school if they wish and this can be done by filling in a placing request form. See the link below for further details.
