This event is the only national event for parents with children in Catholic schools and aims to support them as the first educators of their children.  The day will include activities for children, so that child care is not an obstacle to attending.  We hope that the programme will be of interest to all families and will help strengthen the link between Catholic homes, the parish and their schools.

Handa’s Surprise – STEM Challenge!

This week we have been learning the story Handa’s Surprise which links to our Africa topic.

The story is about a little girl who takes fruit to her friend in another village. She carries the fruit in a basket on her head!

We set ourselves the challenge of using lots of different types of construction equipment to try and make our own baskets to carry fruit.

There was lots of team work and collaborative learning, and we even helped each other solve some tricky problems! It was lots of fun and a great way to start off our first year as a new class. We are excited for our next challenge!

The story of Handa’s Surprise can be found on Youtube via the following link:

Escape the Classroom 🔑🚪

As a way of consolidating our learning of grammar rules in P5, we participated in a literacy challenge called ‘Escape the Classroom’.

Inspired by ‘Escape Rooms’ in Glasgow, we worked in a small groups to solve 10 Literacy problems. Each problem was a clue to a digit to the “door lock”.

With the aim to find the 10 digit code in the fastest time, we worked well collaboratively to apply what we have learned to answer challenging questions.

Congratulations to our winning team who ‘escaped the classroom’ in 31 minutes and 22 seconds 👏🏼🔑🚪

‘Aladdin’ 🎥

The boys and girls in P3, 4 and 5 put on an incredible production of ‘Aladdin’ 👏🏼

I am very proud of each and every one of my pupils. They must continue to shine with confidence next year in P6!
