Our Bonny Scotland by Primary 1c

January 31, 2020 by Mrs Marletta | 0 comments

We hope you enjoy this poem written by Primary 1c. We were inspired by all the learning we have been doing about Scotland and Scottish culture.

Our Bonny Scotland

Scotland is good

Scotland is nice

Scotland is friendly

Scotland is warm

Our Bonny Scotland

Scotland is sunny

Scotland is wet

Scotland is snowy

Scotland is bright

Our Bonny Scotland

Scotland is castles

Scotland is mountains

Scotland is sandy beaches

Scotland is lochs and forests

Our Bonny Scotland

Scotland is music

Scotland is laughter

Scotland is braw

Scotland is people

Our Bonny Scotland

Scotland is beautiful

Scotland is brilliant

Scotland is fun

Scotland is home

Scotland is love

Our Bonny Scotland

Primary 1 Advent kindness

December 5, 2019 by Mrs Marletta | 0 comments

Primary 1 c have been thinking of ways to show kindness to others each day of Advent.

We have been inspired by the message of Jesus who asked us to “love one another as I have loved you”.

The  children came up with their own ideas of ways to show kindness such as helping others if they are hurt or lonely or stuck with their work. They also talked about keeping our classroom and school tidy. They suggested praying for people and smiling to cheer people up.

Having fun with maths!

Here in P2B we had a fabulous morning exploring with the items in our brand new maths box!

We used them for lots of different activities including counting, adding, taking away, sharing, pattern making, measuring, exploring 3D shape and solving problems.

We can’t wait to challenge ourselves with all our new resources!

Autumn is red
Autumn is gold
Autumn is falling
Autumn is cold
Autumn is bright
Autumn is windy
Autumn is green
Autumn is gold
Autumn is crunchy
Autumn is nice
Autumn is fun

Autumn is sunny
Autumn is beautiful.

Revising 2D Shapes

In P2b we have been sharing our knowledge on 2D shapes.

We described the shapes we knew and then worked together to make some bright, colourful posters for the classroom. We then had to present our learning to the class.

There were lots of descriptive words used such as curved, straight, corners, sides, flat and equal.

We even knew that a corner is where two sides meet and that a square is different from a rectangle because while a rectangle has 2 long sides and 2 short sides, the sides on a square are all the same length.

Some of us challenged ourselves to learn the names of some trickier shapes like heptagon and octagon!

Have a look at our work!

A massive thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete our first parent survey of the school year. We are collating them right now and looking at ways we can improve our communication, make it possible for you to join in with school events and support you with your child’s homework.

If you haven’t yet had the chance to complete the survey we would really love to hear your thoughts. The survey is completely anonymous and can be found by clicking here: parent survey

As always, thank you for your continued support.
