Monthly Newsletter January 2019

Dear Parents and Carers

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I trust that you all had a relaxing holiday and are ready for the new term.

Welcome back to term 3. I hope 2019 brings you health and happiness.

New Staff

I would like to extend a warm welcome to the following new staff members who have joined us.

Ms Kenny, Ms Taylor and Ms Conway have joined our team of staff teaching children who have English as an Additional Language.

Ms Cydzik and Ms McAllister have joined our team of Support for Learning Workers and Ms Mayne has joined our team of Clerical Support Staff.

I trust you will join me in welcoming them to our school.

Attendance

The link between high attendance and high attainment has been well documented. In light of this I monitor attendance on a monthly basis and inform parents in writing if there are concerrns over a child’s attendance. Children will pick up colds and coughs and in these situations it is appropriate that the child remain at home.

School Choir

Congratulations to the school choir for their performances over the Christmas period. They brought festive joy to local residential and day-care centres as well as entertaining the citizens of Glasgow by performing in Glasgow Central Station.

The Choir are going to take a short break from practices as the year groups begin preparations for their annual school show…More information below.

Primary 6/7 School Show

Primary 6 and Primary 7 have started preparing for a performance of Cinderella Rockerfella. The show will take place on Tuesday 26th March at 1.30pm and Wednesday 27th March at 9.30am. Tickets will go on sale nearer the time.

Double Parking Outside the School

Many of you may have seen me at the front of the school deterring parents from double parking at the school entrance. Not only is this dangerous to the children exiting the car, it also causes danger to other children using the crossing patrol, other drivers accessing Calder Street and may hinder emergency services who use Calder Street to access the Glasgow Road Network. I ask you on behalf of the children in Holy Cross Primary to STOP DOUBLE PARKING OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL.
