Merry Christmas Everyone!
We are always busy at Holy Cross but this Christmas term has been busier than usual! Here is a little round up of some of the many fun, festive and of course educational activities that have been going on this term.
Advent
The children at Holy Cross have been learning about Advent. Advent is the time when we prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ on Christmas day. The children created ‘Kindness Advent calendars’ in the spirit of our school motto CURAMUS. They came up with kind things we could do to prepare out hearts and minds for Christmas and show the true spirit of the season.
Christmas shop & Enterprise
A massive congratulations to our Enterprise team who ran a very successful Christmas business- sourcing, creating, designing and selling festive products that delighted the children at Holy Cross. I can see future Business leaders in them already!
Nativity & Christmas show
The Primary 1 and Primary 2 children wowed us all with yet another magical Christmas show. The Primary 1 children told the Nativity story beautifully, looking wonderful in their costumes and singing like angels. The Primary 2 children had us feeling festive and appreciating the wonder of winter with ‘A Snowman at Sunset! I’m not sure when exactly I’ll stop singing ‘There were ten tubby snowmen….’ which is always the sign of a good tune. You all did a wonderful job learning your lines, songs and actions and we are all very proud of you.
Pantomimes
The whole school enjoyed days out or days in with the Pantomime. The pantomime is one of my favourite Christmas traditions…’oh no it’s not!’……’oh yes it most definitely it is!’ I think it’s fair to say the laughter could be heard long after the shows were finished. In fact the laughter was so loud and so joyful it could be heard at the North Pole, where it inspired a visit from a very special guest…
A Special visitor & Christmas parties
Yes you’ve guessed it, that visitor was SANTA!!! The Primary 1 to Primary 3 children were astounded as they got to meet Santa and even received a present from him! The fun continues for the whole school with class parties as a reward for everyone’s hard work and effort so far this year.
Christmas jumper day
The staff at Holy Cross take participation very seriously when it comes to Christmas jumper day, some more than others, with their home made efforts- Mr Doherty, you’re looking great! Although this Primary 1 pupil has inspired us to think of wearing entire Christmas outfits next year!
Christmas message
Thank you to all the children, parents and families who have supported the school this year. Also a big thank you to the support staff and teaching staff who make these Christmas events possible, donating their time and talent to create costumes, write scripts, plan activities and guide the children in their learning.
Merry Christmas from everyone at Holy Cross. We hope you have a restful, fun, joyful time this holiday and the opportunity to spend quality time with friends and family. Peace and love to all this season. We look forward to welcoming you back rested and refreshed next term.
