Look at our beautiful polar bear pictures.  Sameha, Abdul and Ayaan will explain how we made them:

First we put our names on the sheet and painted the background by mixing white, pink and blue.  Then we added salt to make the background look snowy.  Next we painted the ice by mixing blue and white.  We scrunched cling film on the ice so that it would look icy when it dried.

We had to wait for the background to dry and then we got a shape of a polar bear that we wanted and put the shape on the paper.  Then we got our sponges and sponge painted our polar bears.

We had to wait for the groups to finish and the paint to dry.  Then we drew the claws and the eyes.

After they were done, we put them on the wall outside our classroom and everyone liked them.

When asked about the features of a polar bear, here is what our children said:

Aimen:  Polar bears have flat feet to stop them from stepping too deep into the snow.

Rijan:  The polar bear has strong legs to swim and run.

Muhammed:  Polar bears have sharp claws to rip their prey.  The sharp claws also help them to climb and grip into the ice.

Saifan:  The blubber under their fur and skin keeps them walking because it gives them energy.  It also keeps them warm.

Rijan:  The polar bear’s fur makes them camouflage in the snow.

Saifan:  The ears of the polar bear keep cold out and keep warm in because they (the ears) are small.
