IDOX
Idox plc is a supplier of specialist information management solutions and services to the public sector and to highly regulated asset intensive industries around the world in the wider corporate sector.
IDOX might sound complicated but in short it is an organisation that helps you find out information fast, from a wide range of sources and for free. Say you wanted to know about the impact of Paired Reading on children with additional support needs. You could email IDOX to find out what information is available by sending them a limited number of key words such as: Paired Reading, ASN, additional support needs, reading. In a short period of time they will return a list of all relevant articles or publications they could find. They usually add some general comments or reflections on what they found. It really is that easy. In addition IDOX regularly runs 1 hour training session that cover:
- Overview of the service including topic coverage and how we source our material
- How to register for a username and password
- Details of the current awareness including the Weekly Bulletin, Topic Updates and personalised Alerts
- Information on Ask a Researcher service
- A demonstration of the database with hints and tips on searching
- A question and answer session
There is no cost to attend the training sessions.

EDUCATION SCOTLAND
There is a very useful website run by Education Scotland called: Knowledge and Research
Here is the Link:
https://education.gov.scot/improvement/knowledge-and-research
Here you will find research based publications, knowledge into action briefings, thought pieces and research links. You may find these a useful starting point in getting to grips with the evidence base and supporting your reflective practice.
Below you will find some examples of the publications available to you. Currently, many articles focus on how poverty affects educational attainment, and what schools and others can do to tackle this.
