A resource to support Family Centred Transition from Early Years Education into Primary School for children with additional support or special educational needs.

Families need to feel safe and secure at times of transition and the ASN Family Centred Transition resource will support Education staff to plan a transition that will support children and their families to better cope with the change ahead.

The resource advocates for early intervention in the months leading up to transition to primary school, when parents and children can share and gather information with Education establishment staff, feel welcomed into and become familiar with the new P1 environment and for parents to begin the parental engagement journey with school towards being partners in their child’s learning and development.

A hard copy of the resource pack will be distributed to ASN establishments where it can be modified for individual establishment and family need, as appropriate.
