Rosshall – New School Year!

A big welcome to our new S1 cohort and a big welcome back to everyone else!

In August all the S1s participated in their library inductions and received their school library cards. It was great to see how keen they are to use the library and to hear about their favourite genres (more of which below)…

Over the summer the fiction has been rearranged by genre to make it easier to find your favourite books. Judging by the book issues so far, I’ll be looking to buy in more Romance, Spooky & Scary and Thriller & Mystery.

May in Rosshall

We had a wonderful delivery of new books from Waterstones.

I also visited the School Library Outreach department in the Mitchell Library and sourced some amazing non-fiction titles to add to our collection. Watch this space.

Our application for the Scottish Book Trust’s Danielle Jawando tour has been sent. Fingers crossed!

Welcome to LGBT History Month @ Rosshall!

What is it?

LGBT History Month is an annual month-long observance of lesbiangaybisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements. (Wikipedia).

As part of Rosshall’s Improvement Plan under “Inclusion And Equalities”, Rosshall is working towards LGBT Silver Charter. To further promote LGBT Equality I have created a display in the library.

One part focusses on those who fought for LGBT Rights and those who have influenced the world through their music, art and literature.

The other part features some current LGBT authors and fiction books held in the library.
