The Leaders of Early Learning (LELs) are a peripatetic team within Glasgow’s Early Years Quality Improvement Team.

Vision, Values and Aims –

PURPOSE:

Ensure a high quality and inclusive early education and care for all children and families.

VISION:

An early years education that meets the needs of all Glasgow’s babies, toddler’s and young children, supporting them to be successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.

AIMS:

  • Develop partnership working across Early Years to support high quality learning and teaching that leads to improved outcomes for all children and families.
  • Build capacity for improvement by promoting and supporting robust self- evaluation processes involving all stakeholders.
  • Support innovative approaches to play pedagogy and curriculum design to ensure sustainable impact.
  • Develop and deliver evidence-based training for practitioners that links theory and national/local policy with highly effective practice.

VALUES:

RELATIONSHIPS

Description – Recognising that strong relations, robust communications and positive collaborations are key to leading change.

Practice – Provide meaningful support for staff teams, nurturing a sense of trust and respect.

AWARENESS

Description – Knowing and understanding the positive influence of self, others and the environment on capacity for change.

Practice – Inspire others through self-reflection and engagement in career-long professional learning, leading to data informed decision making.

INTEGRITY

Description – Being open and honest with self and others, and remaining courageous when faced with complication and resistance to change.

Practice – See possibilities rather than barriers, focusing on social justice and high expectations for all.

SERVICE

Description – Utilising resources, including the skills, knowledge and experience of self and others to create positive change.

Practice – Focus on the purpose of contributing to positive change that impacts children’s and families’ outcomes, leading and motivating others to do similar.

Together, these values create the foundation for adapting to change and driving continuous improvements. Integrating these practices will positively impact outcomes for Glasgow’s youngest learners.
