According to the UK Parliament’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion in STEM there is evidence to suggest that women, certain ethnic minorities, people with disabilities and those from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds are underrepresented in education, training and employment related to STEM.
Quoted by the Committee research shows that ethnic minority staff and students have consistently poorer outcomes than white staff and students. We therefore encourage young people from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic Background to explore STEM at school and everyday life.
STEM is all around us.

- while Shopping – adding, taking away, estimating, comparing, budgeting, investigating labels, ingredients, quantities
- while going out for a ride or walk – talking about the weather, buildings, plants, animals
