Living out with our catchment and not within Glasgow City Council – P7 into S1

Parents and carers of young people currently attending a primary school out with Glasgow City Council should contact the North-West Area Support team at the address and phone number shown above. A form will then be sent to you. Once completed the form should be sent to the address shown above. Parents and carers of pupils joining us from another country will also need to submit a placing request unless your young person has moved into our local catchment area.

Turnaround times and the decision making process

We realise that many parents/carers of P7 young people will make placing requests as early as the November prior to their young person starting at Drumchapel High School.  The local authority process all requests and will usually confirm places during April and May. This can be a frustrating time for parents and carers as months can pass between a request and confirmation. Please be assured that this is not unusual and is not an indication that your young person is not going to receive a place. As soon as the school are given permission to contact parents/carers we will do so.

The school has no direct input in the process and will not contact parents/carers until a decision has been made at local authority level.

Midterm placing requests are handled in the same manner but the turnaround time is quicker. You will usually hear from the school within two or three weeks of the request being submitted. The local authority will ask us to process requests once they have been approved and only if there is still space within the relevant year group cohort.

The North-West area support team are best placed to answer any further questions that you may have. Nevertheless, we will always endeavour to assist you. If you would like to discuss enrolment with us, then please call the school on 0141 582 0070.
