S1-S3
During their first year, students have the opportunity to develop their numeracy skills. This includes topics such as decimals, fractions, the four operations and percentages. Topics such as symmetry, finance, algebra and coordinates will also be experienced. This content will vary depending on pupil ability. During this year, and throughout their time in BGE education, students will experience Maths Week Scotland, Pi Day and monthly problem-solving challenges along with various other events and activities.
Pupils will move onto topics including time, angles, patterns, data analysis and probability during their second year. After this, students will continue their BGE journey via different routes of progression. A student experience at Drumchapel High School will differ at this stage, depending on their progress.
By the end of their third year, students should complete their broad general education journey within Mathematics before moving on to experiencing some content within National 3, National 4 or National 5 qualifications before entering senior phase.
S4-S6
Senior phase includes a variety of qualification options for Drumchapel High School students. Students may continue courses in order to achieve:
- National 3 Applications of Mathematics
- National 4 Mathematics
- National 4 Applications of Mathematics
- National 5 Mathematics
- National 5 Applications of Mathematics
- Higher Mathematics
Students progression is dependant on prior achievement at this stage.
