Eid Celebration

Thanks to everyone who attended our Eid Celebration. The event raised £1500 for our school funds.

Nursery Transition

We will be welcoming our new August 2024 Primary 1 children and their families to our school on various dates during this term. More information to follow.

Financial Inclusion

We have a finance officer in school every Monday and Thursday mornings. Her name is Emma Furniss and she is available to help families with a variety of issues including housing, benefits, employment and training etc.  Please drop in speak to her or to arrange an appointment. Alternatively, contact the school office for Emma’s contact details and she can arrange to meet you at a time and place of your choosing. All information shared with Emma is confidential.

Parent Pay is now live and the council requires that parents/carers use Parent Pay to pay for items such as lunches and trips. You will have received instructions on how to do this. Please contact the school office if you have any problems as the school will no longer be able to accept cash payments.

Attendance below 90% may impact your child’s progress in school and late arrivals cause your child to miss important teaching points. Please try to have your child attend school every day at 9am. Thank you for your continued support in this area.

Welcome back to all our children and families after the Christmas holiday. Thank you to all our families for supporting out Christmas Market and Christmas Concert/Nativity.

Parent Council

Our Parent Council continue to meet most Thursday mornings at 9.15am for coffee and a chat. All welcome.

Uniform

Almost all of our children are wearing school uniform. Please not that non-uniform items such as jeans are not acceptable as school uniform and please write your child’s name on their uniform and jacket. Thank you for your continued support in this area.

Uniform can be bought in local supermarkets such as Asda, or Cuthbertson Primary branded uniform can be bought from BE Uniforms. Either style of uniform is acceptable.

The school uniform is:

• White or Yellow shirt or polo shirt
• Cardigan, sweatshirt or jumper – green or grey
• School tie- green & gold stripes
• Grey or black trousers
• Grey or green or black skirt

House System and Values  

Our House Captains and Vice Captains are responsible for demonstrating our school values and managing our house system. All classes have a school values chart and children are awarded house points against our values. Our values are Honesty, Everyone is Kind, Achieving, Respect and Teamwork (HEART). Our Parent Evenings will be held on Tuesday 14^th and Wednesday 22^nd November from 3.30 until 6pm.

Appointments

Our office staff are being inundated with appointments during school hours. Collecting children for appointments between 9am and 3pm disrupts the class and your child’s learning. Please try to arrange appointments outside of school hours, where possible.

Uniform

I am pleased to see almost all children wearing their school uniform this session and would like to thank parents for their support with this. If you have not done so already, please ensure that items of clothing, including jackets, are labelled with your child’s name to avoid loss. Clothing grants for school uniforms can be accessed online at www.glasgow.gov.uk as we are no longer provided with paper forms.

P.E.

P.E. often takes place outside. Please ensure your child has appropriate P.E. kit for indoor and outdoor P.E.

Homework

Homework will be issued in various formats, but most often, homework will be issued and completed via Seesaw.

Dropping off and Collecting Children

We continue with our soft start and end to the day with gates and doors open from 8.50am and again from 2.50pm.

Parent Council

Please consider joining our small, friendly Parent Council group. We would love to have your support and views. If you would be interested, please contact me through the school office. Language  barriers are not an issue as interpreters can be arranged.

Parent Council Coffee and Chat

Mrs Haq (Chair of Parent Council) continues to run these coffee mornings every Thursday morning, beginning on 7^th September. Feel free to pop in for a chat and to meet other families.

Healthy Eating

Please support our healthy eating initiative by providing healthy snacks and lunches in regular size portions. No takeaways or items such as family size bags or crisps or packs of pastries are permitted. Please remember to provide your child with a water bottle.

Absence during term time

Please be aware that we cannot authorise or support term time travel as this has a negative impact on your child’s learning. Any travel arrangements made during term time will require supporting evidence, such as travel documents to be presented to the school office. We also require you to contact the school to arrange an appointment to complete school paperwork regarding any planned travel and have this approved by a member of the school management team. Due to school waiting lists in the area, extensive travel may result in your child being removed from the school roll. Please support your child by ensuring maximum attendance. Absence in term time leads to reduced attainment and may result in your child not achieving their expected academic levels.

Sickness

Please contact the school if your child is unwell and cannot attend school.

Seesaw

This is our default method for communication with children and families due to the high cost of text messaging. Please ensure you have the Seesaw Family app downloaded and that the school has a parental email address. Contact the school office should you require any assistance setting this up.

Cuthbertson Primary School                           

This is our final newsletter of the 2022-2023 session. Our next newsletter will be at the end of August 2023. It has been lovely to have had a more normal year and have families back in school to celebrate events with us.

School Playground

We are delighted to finally announce that the playground renovations are now complete. Miss Kennedy continues to work on improving the garden area. The children are enjoying the new playground markings.

Latecoming

Please make every effort to have your child arrive to school by 9am. On occasion, we can have as many as 50 children arriving late which disrupts the class and your child’s learning.
