iPad Common Faults

Below are some of the most common faults we see within school when using the iPad. Please have a look below and see if a fix can be found.

If you are unable to fix it, please get in touch with Mr Jess (Digital Leader) gw10jesswilliam@glow.ea.glasgow.sch.uk.

Internet Issues

Is the software up to date?

One of the most common reasons that the iPad is not running as it should, is that the software is not up to date. Please ensure, for security, that the iPad is kept up to date.

To fix, simply go to Settings, General, Software Update. Complete the software update and see if your iPad is working normally.

Internet not working / Proxyย Authentication Required

This means that the iPad has forgotten the pupils username and password and this needs to be updated. This could be because the iPad hasn’t been used in a while or needs a refresh.

To fix, click settings and enter your Computer ID and Password that is used within school. This should allow the iPad to work.

If you have forgotten your iPad,ย It will need to be reset. You may need to call the school office to arrange to have this fixed.

If you press “Not Now” by accident,ย you will need to go to Settings, Safari, Clear Data. Then turn the iPad off and on. This should then prompt the Proxy Authentication message again.

Application not working/ Responding

If you are trying to open an app and it suddenly keeps closing, follow these steps. This may be because the app has a bug or error on it.

To fix, Double press the home button and swipe the app away to close it, Hold down on the app and delete it, Turn the iPad off and back on, Go to Self Service and redownload the app.

Forgotten Lock Code

Apple ID Sign In

You may have been prompted to renter your AppleID password. This was set when you were issued with your iPad. If you know your password, then simply enter it. If you do not know your password, you will need to contact the school office who will arrange for Mr Jess to fix this. This can take some time.

Battery Issues

If your iPad is having battery issues, you will need to let your iPad completly run out of charge and die before charging again. Somethings its just been on the go to much and needs a rest – we all know how that feels…
