At Ashpark Primary School, we are currently completing the Centres for Excellence in Financial Education Programme. This will make us only 1 in a few schools across Scotland to achieve this. As Part of the programme, we have created our vision statement. The Pupils in our Financial Education Committee supported us in its creation.
Financial Education Vision Statement
Here at Ashpark Primary School, we believe that all children should be healthy, hardworking, caring and kind and have the best possible start in life to be successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens. Part of this belief involves helping our children to build skills for life, particularly surrounding financial matters. Our children are entitled to be financially capable and have the confidence and knowledge to navigate the events life throws at them, in a responsible way. To be able to do this, we will:
- provide a range of opportunities to teach financial knowledge and skills across the curriculum,
- learn to manage finances,
- understand banking,
- to develop an awareness of how money can affect a person’s health and wellbeing
We aim to enable children to have a solid foundation of financial understanding which will help them to flourish in life, work and beyond. As we embark on our journey, we are delighted to be working towards becoming a Centre of Financial Excellence, at Ashpark Primary School.
