Our story of P4. I can’t believe our year is coming to an end!

Our Story

Here is a poem we wrote all about our P4 experience.

Primary 4 was a very odd year

In lots of different ways.

We dealt with a virus and lockdown learning

And 3 teachers filling our days!

It started off a normal year,

Back to school after a long time indoors.

We were so excited to see each other

Back to school, the new Primary 4s!!

We met some new friends, and teachers too!

We were glad that they all seemed friendly.

We started off learning about Polloksheilds,

And marched to save the library!

Before we knew it, it was Halloween

And we had to self-isolate.

It was frustrating but to keep us all safe,

we had to accommodate.

After the lovely winter break

The schools were shut again.

We had to return to lockdown learning,

Back to Teams  until…who knew when?

Eventually towards the end of March,

We were allowed to return to our class

Back to Guided Reading and Fractions and Time,

And outdoor learning on the lovely green grass.

Our last term was lots of fun,

With lots of opportunities to thrive.

As the summer got closer, we knew it was time,

We were ready to move to P5!

Week beginning 17.5.21

Another busy week in P4!

We’ve really enjoyed getting to know the lovely ducks. It’s been amazing watch them grow and we hope we get school pets next year too.

We were also so very lucky this week and had to sessions of Eco Drama. On Monday, we had a focus on recycling and on Wednesday we were focusing on the importance of water. We’re really going to miss Eco-Drama, we got better at improvising, acting and performing every week and hope we get to use these skills again soon.

We have also been helping Halina prepare for her First Holy Communion. We are so proud of her and wrote her these prayers.

Next week, we’re looking forward to  Barrowland Ballet starting!

Week beginning 3.5.21 and 10.5.21

Hello Primary 4,

First of all, a very happy Eid to those of you who have been celebrating! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to hear about it when I next see you!

The past 2 weeks have been very busy, we’ve had school holidays, Eid, dancing with Kate and Eco-Drama with Sophie – but – we’ve still managed to squeeze in lots of learning!

In Maths, we’ve been learning about time. We’ve been reading analogue and digital clocks and are getting more confident every day. Well done.

In Eco Drama, we read the story of Eagle and Wren. It’s an old Scottish folk tale. We acted out as a class. Then we got into groups and created a ‘meal time with the birds’ scene. It was hilarious and you were wonderful.

Our lovely Halina made her First Reconciliation last weekend. We were all so proud of her. As she had worked so hard to prepare for this (and because all of pupils were so wonderful and supportive) we had a little Monday treat and had a movie afternoon! It was nice to relax together after all the hard work.

Last but not least, some exciting news in St Albert’s, there are some duck eggs in the infants area, and they’re beginning to hatch! This is Albert. HOW CUTE!

Have a lovely weekend!

Miss McCafferty

Week beginning 26.4.21

Blogs are back Primary 4! Here are some of the fun things we’ve been up to this week.

On Tuesday, Kate came to school for some dancing. We danced in the rain and it was so much fun.

Iman: I felt really happy when we were dancing.

On Wednesday, we were having a very important discussion about Maths, it was called a Maths Talk. We were given a simple calculation and we used concrete materials (tens and ones) to show the calculations. Then we spoke about different strategies we can use to solve the calculation and explained our strategies to the class. There are lots of different ways to solve calculations.

Uzair: I like using tally marks to count.

On Thursday, we were talking about making choices. Sometimes we made silly choices and we have to apologize. We were talking about forgiveness and what we can do to show we are sorry for our actions. We were doing some drama (we are very talented actors) and had so much fun.
Ayesha: I really loved when Aydin was being a dog. It was so funny.

well done P4, can’t wait for next week.
