Important updates and information for this week – Please Read!

Dear parents,

This week week is our Macmillan Fundraising week, please read below for all the exciting things happening in the school!

Funday Thursday!

Children can come to school on Thursday wearing their pyjamas, wearing their own clothes (non-uniform) or sporting a crazy hairdo! If they would like to bring a small donation of £1 to participate, that would be fabulous.

Virtual Coffee Morning

On Thursday, Mrs McFadden will host a Virtual Coffee Morning via Zoom at 10am. At said event, there will be a raffle taking place with lots of good prizes available; food vouchers, chocolates, vouchers for local businesses etc. Raffles are £1 per strip and I’ll start collecting money tomorrow. If you want to be in with the chance of winning, can you please send your child with money to school tomorrow or Wednesday before the grand reveal!

If you’d like to donate a prize for the raffle – please feel free to email myself or Mrs McFadden; gw13mcfaddenkatherin@glow.ea.glasgow.sch.uk

Mrs McFadden will send a Zoom link for those interested in attending on Wednesday.

DOUGHNUTS!

We will be selling doughnuts on Thursday morning at playtimes and lunchtimes to raise some more cash for MacMillan! Please send your child with money if they wish to buy some! 🍩

Family Fun – Sponsored walks!

If your family would like to organise and participate in a sponsored walk, I can send home a Sponsor Sheet for you to record the donations you’ve collected. Unfortunately, because of restrictions, we cannot arrange a bigger community event where we could involve all of our families participating at the same time – so we will leave it with you to decide if that’s something you wish to get involved in! For example, a local hill walk to Conic Hill, Ben A’an or The Whangie!

Thanks

Mr Forshaw

Primary 1a Meet the Teacher!

Hi

We would normally have Meet the Teacher in the classroom but due to the current restrictions we aren’t allowed to do that.

I hope you enjoy this video showing you some  of the things we do in school.

If you ever have any questions you can email me at Gw18forshawmartin@glow.sch.uk

Have a great weekend everyone!

Mr Forshaw

Happy Friday!

I can’t believe we are at the end of another week already!

This week in primary 1 we started to learn our sounds. We have been learning the s and a sound. We played a matching game and we had to put the objects that start with that sound in the correct places. It was lots of fun. You can challenge use at home by asking us about things that start with these sounds.

In maths, we have continued to work on our number recognition and we even started to practice before and after numbers to ten. It was really tricky. Also, we started to create our own patterns using all different materials and shapes.

Have an amazing weekend everyone. See you on Monday!

Another fun filled week!

Hi everyone!

We have had such a busy week in P1.  We have been learning lots of new things. We have continued to learn more about rhyming words. You can say a word like cat and we can tell you a word that rhymes. For a really tricky challenge you can ask us for words that rhyme without giving us a clue!

In maths, we have started to learn about ordering and recognising numbers. We have been playing matching games and working on recognising dice patterns. We have also been learning about different animal patterns. We know that some animals have stripes and some have spots and some even have both.

We played a really fun guess who game. We had to guess each person in the class but we only got to see a small part of their face. For our all about me topic we have been learning how to label all the different parts of the body.

Have a great weekend and hopefully the weather will be a bit nicer next week!

Here are some photos from our learning this week!

First full week of Primary 1!

Hi everyone!

We have had a fantastic first week at school. We have been learning all about words that rhyme. We have been playing lots of rhyming games and reading books with lots of rhyming words. We are also working on creating patterns in maths. During our afternoons we have been learning all about our emotions.

Have a look at our learning!
