Hi boys and girls,
It’s the month of June already! The sun is shining, please make sure you go outside and enjoy it.
Today’s Tasks-
Literacy-
Using Suffixes
A suffix is a letter or a group of letters that can be added to the end of a word to change its meaning.
Watch the first short video clip about the suffix -ous (link below)-

Did you notice that there are spelling rules when using the suffix -ous?
Adding the suffix -ous turns a noun into an adjective. It means ‘full of’.
For example: Dangerous means ‘full of danger’.
Spelling Rules | Examples |
---|---|
When you add -ous to a word ending with ‘e’, drop the ‘e’, then add -ous. | Adventure becomes adventurous. |
When you add -ous to a word ending in ‘y’, replace the ‘y’ with ‘i’, then add -ous. | Fury becomes furious. |
When you add -ous to a word that ends with ‘our’, ‘our’ becomes ‘or’, then add -ous. | Humour becomes humorous. |
Complete the activity below to check how well you understand how to use the suffix -ous.
