Fairtrade Fortnight, Pancake Day, World Book Day and Barrowland Ballet!

This week is the start of Fairtrade fortnight. We have been doing different activities as part of this –

  • Learning about what Fairtrade means
  • Making Fairtrade posters
  • Listening to a Fairtrade speaker talking about unfair prices for farmers

On Tuesday it was pancake day and we made pancakes with chocolate chips, Nutella, lemon and sugar. It was scrumptious!

We also had our second Barrowland Ballet session of this term to help us prepare for the Wolves performance we are taking part in at the Tramway on Saturday 18th March. Isaac, who will soon be joining us in Class 2, was visiting this week and took park in some of the dances too 🙂

This week was also World Book Day and we have been learning about non-fiction texts and how they are different from fiction.

As well as all of this we have been continuing our topic learning on Clans and Castles, doing some work on 2D shape and learning about safety in the home – another very busy week in Class 2!

Trips, trips and treats!

On Monday, Natasha and Vince from Barrowland Ballet started working with us on a performance about the Hare and the Tortoise. We did some slow motion moves, we did fast feet dancing, an arrogant dance and a celebration dance. WE worked on our performance on Monday morning, Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning and Thursday morning.

On Tuesday morning the whole entire school went to the cinema to watch Finding Dory. It was hilarious, amazing and exciting! There was a crazy octopus in the film and some funny sea lions.

We visited the BBC on Wednesday so we could learn more about performance. We went all the way to the top of the building and the view was amazing. We all took turns reading our news at the Reporting Scotland desk. Here are some videos.

We also saw an edit room where they put lots of different parts of film together to make a programme and went into a radio studio. We finished our trip by visiting a green screen room, there was loads of lights.

Today is Christmas jumper day in school so we have had another very busy week in Class 2 🙂

Our Nutcracker Assembly

On Thursday this week we had our class assembly with P5.

Some of us were narrators, we sang in French and Spanish and we acted out the story in a short movie. On Monday we made pictures of the Land of Snow using oil pastels and chalk and we showed these pictures in assembly too.

We made snowflake decorations and sleighs from the Nutcracker over the last few weeks which we sold on Wednesday at the Christmas Fayre. We sold every single one!

It has been a busy week as we were also learning about the sound oo, using connectives in our writing, adding in maths and in science we were learning about energy.
