Information for starting nursery at Woodlands FNC

Before your child starts

You will be invited to bring your child to visit the nursery where you will have the opportunity to visit the areas and meet the staff team. This is also an opportunity to ask any questions and gather information to support your child’s transition into nursery.

Nursery Hours

A nursery place, equivalent to a total of 1140 hours per year is offered to all children from the term after their 3rd birthday.

The nursery day is from 9.00am -3.00pm for all children.

Keyworkers

Your child will have a keyworker within their area however all staff in the nursery will get to know you and your child.

Your child’s keyworker will be responsible for maintaining your child’s learning records (PLJs) and having regular informal progress meetings with parents/carers.

What are Personal Learning Journey’s (PLJs)

  • This a record of your child’s learning at nursery
  • You will be invited to progress chats with your child’s key worker throughout the year to share their learning and identify learning targets and next steps in their learning
  • You will be encouraged to contribute to your child’s PLJ through family learning sheets, photos, pictures etc.

Clothing & Uniform

Please dress your child in comfortable clothes and shoes. Although we do have aprons to protect clothing during messy play activities children may still get messy.

Children have access to outdoors in all weathers please ensure they have appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear (wetsuit and wellies)

Please also bring a spare set of clothes in their bag daily as your child may get wet from the water tray, dirty at snack/lunch or have a toileting accident.

Please make sure your child’s name is on all of their clothes, shoes and bags.

Food – Lunch and Snacks

Thanks to Stephens the Bakers all children are offered a breakfast of toast and/or cereal when the come into nursery.

Children will also be offered a healthy snack during their session.

Milk and water are available to drink at all times.

All children will receive a 2 course lunch. Please see our lunch menu options below:

 

Please let us know if your child has specific dietary requirements or allergies.

Nursery Weekly Donation

We ask for a donation of £2.50 per week. This money will help us to buy additional resources which helps to develop children’s interests and learning.

Attendance

If your child is unable to attend Nursery then please let us know as soon as possible by calling the office on: 01334 659483

If you do not contact us we will try and call you. If we do not hear from you a home visit will be carried out.

Illness

It is important that if you child is unwell they should not attend nursery.

If your child has had sickness and/or diarrhoea they must be clear of both for 48 hours before they can return to nursery.

Seesaw App

We use the Seesaw App to communicate with parents and to share what has been happening during the nursery day. When your child starts nursery you will be given a QR Code to sign up.

Please always remember that pictures should not be shared to your personal social media pages due to data protection.
