Nursery staff recognise that parents are children’s main educators in their earliest years and they continue to play a major role in their young child’s learning when they enter our nursery. Each parent and carer will want different things from the nursery and we want to establish a relationship that is built on trust so that we can share the responsibility of the growth and development of your child.
You know your children far better than we ever could and we hope that you will share any thoughts or concerns with us. We believe that the quality of our relationships with the children will be greatly influenced by the quality of partnership that we can establish together.
Parents/grandparents/carers are welcome to spend time in the playrooms and throughout the year we organise specific events to share some of the learning taking place. We also offer a variety of support and information groups.
If you have an area of expertise you could share with us please let us know. In the past parents/carers have come into nursery for a variety of purposes:
- To talk about their job e.g. nurse, joiner, fire fighter, police officer.
- To demonstrate, share a skill and answer questions, for example about a new baby, a pet, a different culture, baking.
Dawn Fraser, our Family Worker, is available to provide support and strategies to any families that are needing a little help.
Any suggestions are always much appreciated and you can view our Parents/carers as Partners policy below.
