Welcome to our school

St Serf’s RC Primary School serves the local community of High Valleyfield, Torryburn, Newmills, Low Valleyfield and Culross.

Our staff work to promote the aims of the Charter for Catholic Schools in Scotland. We maintain a strong tradition of welcoming pupils of other faiths who have chosen to attend our school and we work hard to promote a positive ethos, where every child is valued and where cultures and differences are respected.

We hope to use the following pages to tell you about our community and how we strive to make this a place of learning where all pupils, parents and staff can work together to ensure that every child is happy, receives the best possible education and can reach their full potential. We believe that we have created a caring and concerned community based on Christian values, and we will continue to work towards the ideals set out in our School Aims and complemented in our School Mission Statement

We aim to educate our pupils for life by preparing them intellectually, emotionally and spiritually within an environment that is well-ordered, stimulating and safe. It is our ultimate aim that all our young people will aspire to become happy and well-adjusted members of society with happy memories of St Serf’s School.

In Primary 6 our pupils begin to prepare for the transition to St Columba’s RC High School in Dunfermline. Our transition process involves planned liaison with Area Group Headteachers, secondary and primary staff, and school chaplains. As a result, our pupils enjoy a variety of activities which ensure a seamless progression to Secondary Education.

At St Serf’s, parents and carers are actively encouraged to become involved in the life and work of the school. There are lots of opportunities to attend shared starts, assemblies, concerts, shows and Masses in school. Parents are invited to be members of our school working groups and to come in and help as volunteers. We work in partnership with our very active Parent Council who organise school events such as coffee afternoons and the Christmas Fair.

If you require further information about any aspect of the school, please make an appointment to visit us. We will be happy to help you.
