St Monans Primary is a co-educational, non-denominational school in the village of St Monans. It  includes 2 Nurseries, which serves the local villages. St Monans is a small picturesque fishing village, steeped in history, situated in the East Neuk of Fife.

The main school building houses 5 classroom areas, multi-purpose hall, withdrawal room (for quiet/noisy activities, music, T.V. etc.) Library, staffroom and office accommodation.  The Nurseries are in separate accommodation across the street and at the end of the playground. A controlled entry system operates on all external doors. The school has a tarmac play area with shelter and seating and uses the adjacent playing fields in the summer months for outdoor games.

Our aim is to create a positive school environment where pupils, parents and staff work together in partnership to provide the highest possible standard of education for all pupils. We are an “Assessment is for Learning”, school where everyone learns together and pupils are fully involved. We are working hard to ensure we offer a wide range of opportunities so that every child can develop towards becoming a confident individual, a successful learner, a responsible citizen and an effective contributor.

We fully recognise the importance of good partnerships with parents/carers and value the fact that they play such a vital role in the running of the school.  The school fosters an Open Door Policy and parents are welcomed at every opportunity. We are fortunate to have an active Parent Council who contribute a great deal to the school.

We have also formed very strong links with our village community and work together on a number of projects. We offer an excellent transition programme with Waid Academy to which most of our pupils transfer at the end of Primary 7.
