Week Beginning 09/01/23

Reading

This week for reading we started our class reading book: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. We also have been doing half an hour of reading independently each day to earn stickers for our BookFlix cards. We have been giving new reading books and before we started reading we completed a ‘before reading novel study.’ Some of the questions were asking ‘how do you feel about reading this book and why?’ My groups book is Who Let the Gods Out?

This week we have been learning about Fractured Fairy Tales. We listened to some fairy tales and discussed how we could change the story to make them different to the traditional telling. We have been writing our plans to create our own fractured fairy tale.

Expressive Arts

This week in music we have been learning our Scottish song for the school ceilidh. As a class we voted to sing a song by The Proclaimers.

In art this week we learned about Scottish artist Andy Scott to designed and make The Kelpies just outside of Falkirk. We looked into the stories of some mythical creatures and chose our favourite one. We then came up with a design plan for our structures.

Languages

This week in French we have been recapping how to tell the time in French. We practiced half past, quarter past, quarter to and o’clock and introduced some new phrases so the person we are talking to can determine if we are telling them the time in the morning, the afternoon or at evening as in France they do not use the phrases a.m or p.m.

RME

We will be doing our God’s Loving Plan work in RME over the next few weeks so their won’t be any RME updates during this time. If you would like to know what we have been learning about, ask us at home and we will be happy to share with you!
