Teachers

Mrs Carmichael  – (P1/2)

Hi, I am Carmen Carmichael and I have been a class teacher at Southwood Primary for 22 years.  I truly love being part of the Southwood team and I think that is why I have been here for so long! I have been privileged to work alongside some amazing colleagues and have made some good friends along the way too.  The best part of my job is that I get to spend my days teaching awesome pupils. There is no other job that is so rewarding!

This year I have celebrated 25 years of working for Fife Council as a teacher.  I cannot believe I have been teaching for so long.  Time flies when you are having fun!

In my spare time I love to pass the hours reading , completing crafty projects and raising money for various charities. This certainly keeps me busy!

Miss McGhee (P6)

Hi, my name is Natalie McGhee. I am entering my second year as a teacher  at Southwood Primary School. I studied a 4-year undergraduate degree in Primary education at the University of Dundee. This year at Southwood Primary, I am teaching the Primary 4 class.

During my spare time, I love to read books and spend lots of time outside, going on walks within my local environment.

Miss Sheret (P7B)

Hello there, my name is Miss Sheret. I have been teaching at Southwood Primary since August 2020 after finishing my studies at Dundee University. It has been an absolute pleasure to begin my teaching career in a school where everybody is so helpful, friendly, and kind. I really enjoy teaching numeracy and drama, getting outdoors with my class and exploring, and focussing on health and wellbeing.

In my spare time I enjoy travelling to visit new places, spending time with friends and family, and anything to do with singing 😊 (I consider myself a karaoke queen). I spent a year traveling a few years ago and spent a lot of time in New Zealand, which is one of my favourite places in the whole world.

Miss Black (P2/3)

Hello Everyone! My name is Miss Black and I am the P1/2 teacher at Southwood Primary. After completing my studies at the University of Aberdeen I came to Fife to begin my teaching career and have loved every minute. I truly do have the best job in the world! My favourite subjects at school are art, PE and health and wellbeing (and of course numeracy and literacy!)

In my spare time, I enjoy watching and supporting my local football team and spending time with my family and friends. I have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, my favourite animal is a giraffe and my favourite thing about Southwood is how friendly and kind all the boys and girls are!

Mrs Doyle (P2)

Hello. I am Mrs Doyle. I am the teacher that wears lots of leopard print !
I have been teaching for nearly 5 years and been at Southwood for 4 years. I love working here!
I enjoy cycling and have loved finding different cycle routes around Fife. Although I do not like cycling up hills! I enjoy reading crime thrillers and I am a huge Marvel fan. Lots of the children know I have a pet tortoise called Sheldon and a rabbit called Lola.

Mrs McEwan

Hello, I’m Mrs McEwan. I started teaching in 1993 and have worked in two other local schools before joining Southwood in 2015. I feel very privileged to work in such a friendly school with great supportive staff and fantastic children.
I love all things Harry Potter, Lego, Minions and, as many will know, technology!

Mrs MacKintosh

Hi I’m Susan Mackintosh. Prior to finding a home teaching Physical Education at Southwood, over 10 years ago now, I enjoyed 10 years at Beath High School where I was promoted to Assistant Principal Teacher of the Physical Education Department. I also loved working with young people who had complex and additional support needs in Dunfermline.
Away from work I love spending time with my family, my friends and my camera ( no selfies !) I take far too many photos of scenery for my son, Lewis’s liking ! Unsurprisingly we spend fun times together enjoying sport and the outdoors. I often say,  “We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!”

Miss Warwick (P5)

Hello, I am Miss Warwick. I began my teaching career in 2000 in England. During 2007 I moved to Scotland and taught in a few local schools.

12 years ago, I moved to Southwood and have never wanted to go anywhere else. I have seen many pupils and staff come and go and know that Southwood is a great place to work and learn.
I currently work part time, while bringing up my young family.

With my sons and dog, I enjoy going on walks, paddling in the stream and the sea.
