Emma’s Riddle of the Week:
The police were called when a gunshot was heard from inside an apartment. When they arrived, they found a man dead on the floor of his apartment. He had a cassette recorder in one hand and a gun in the other. When the detective arrived on the scene, she pressed play on the recorder, hearing the man’s voice. He said, “I have nothing to live for. I cannot go on,” the tape ended with a gunshot. After listening to the recording, the detective knew at once that this was a murder, not a suicide.
