Achievements

Significant achievements:

  • We are a STEM Nation School! Pitteuchar East Primary is the first primary school in Fife to achieve this award. We chose to undertake audits and assessment in all five elements of this award.
  • Some years ago, our school achieved the Gold Standard for our symbolised environment. You will see these visual clues displayed consistently around our school, and in many of our publications.
  • One of our colleagues, Mrs. Hay, was awarded the Scottish Women In Technology “Primary Teacher of the year.”
  • Pitteuchar East Primary has become quite well known for the way in which we put relationships at the centre of our work. You will see we have a Relationships Policy, rather than a Behavior Policy, and were one of the first schools in Scotland to take this approach.
  • Outdoor Learning is an integral part of our children’s curriculum, and teachers/ PSAs have engaged in extended training with Outdoor Education colleagues from Lochore Meadows.
  • Over the last few years, we have worked to eliminate Gender Bias from nursery through to P7. Following an audit by one of our colleagues, Miss. Peden, it was clear that our children had stereotyped certain careers. Now, by P7 all children have high expectations of what they may be able to achieve in STEM subjects in the world of work.
