🌱 Supporting Smooth Transitions at Paxton Nursery

At Paxton Nursery, we understand that transitions can be exciting yet sometimes challenging for children and families. That’s why we carefully plan and support every step of your child’s early learning journey — from Early Entry through to starting school.

🐛 Early Entry (Under 2s)

For our youngest learners in the Butterfly Room, we focus on settling in gently. We work closely with families to create familiar routines, provide a nurturing environment, and build secure attachments. Our goal is for children to feel safe, happy, and confident as they explore and learn.

🌻 3–5s Playrooms

Before starting in the Sunflower and Rainbow Rooms, children are invited to two settling-in visits. During these sessions, they can explore the nursery, meet our friendly staff, and get familiar with their new playrooms. We also run a Bookbug session to introduce children to stories, songs, and rhymes, helping them feel comfortable in a group setting. Families receive enrolment packs with all the information they need, making the transition smooth and reassuring for both children and parents.

🎒 Transition to School

When children are ready to move on to school, we provide a carefully supported transition program. This includes visits from local schools, sharing learning profiles, and preparing children for the routines and expectations of school life. We work closely with families and schools to ensure each child moves on with confidence, independence, and excitement for their next adventure.

At every stage, we prioritise partnership with families, celebrating successes, listening to concerns, and making transitions as smooth and positive as possible.
