Maths! In Maths we have been finishing our circle work and moving on to coordinates. In coordinates we have been doing art and some textbook work. We have been learning about plotting coordinates in 4 quadrants.  We have also been doing a Sumdog competition which we had 3 people getting top ten in all of Fife.

Rotary Quiz! We have been doing different quizzes in class for the upcoming Rotary Quiz which will need 4 children to represent Newport Primary School. So far, we have done a sport quiz a science quiz and a geography quiz.

Art! This week we made an art piece that was a perspective, the idea of this art piece was to make it look like you were laying down and looking at the city.   We had to use the centre point of a circle to point all lines towards.

Writing! We used our newspaper articles and typed it on Adobe Express we used different templates and they came out great.

PE- In PE this week, we have been doing lots of Scottish dancing. We have gotten into groups and made up our own dances to a beat of 8. We got into groups of 4, then made a dance and taught it to another group to learn it.

Maths- In maths, we have been looking at integers and when we had finished that we looked back on circles. We looked at parts of a circle such as the radius, diameter, circumference, arc, and more.

Art- We have done lots on circle artwork, and we have done it on paper splitting it up into 8’s or 16’s. We have painted, while learning from an artist called Kristian Farr, who makes lots of art with circles. As well as doing artwork on paper, we have done it digitally on our iPads too!

Poems- Everybody recited their Scottish poems to the class (or to the teacher) on Friday, and Sophia-Rose, Holly, and Saoirse won the 3 best poets and will be reciting them on Monday to the school. We have also learnt the story of Tam O’ Shanter and even got to draw a scene from the story and compared them to AI.

Scottish Wars of Independence- We learned about the Lübeck letter from William Wallace and Andrew Murray and even created one of our own to print out. We also made our own wax seals to put on our letter!

This week we started learning about the Scottish Wars of Independence.  We learnt about we talked Alexander the III, Margret the Maid of Norway, John Balliol and the Battle of Dunbar. In Maths we have done some learning about the different parts of a circle.  We have also started some artwork which involves drawing accurate circles with a compass.  We have also learnt that an integer is a whole number and that we can add negative and positive numbers together.  We really enjoyed Skills Academies this week – skills we developed included creativity, perseverance and problem solving.
