Friday 27th February

This week we have been exploring food and cooking during Victorian times. We have learned about the differences between rich and poor diets and the difference to our diets. We have used ICT to display our findings.  We linked this to the Eatwell plate to compare balanced diets from then to now. We also planned our own healthy day of eating, looking to make it balanced in our Health and Wellbeing work.

We finished making our Victorian Houses and gave feedback to each other on what we liked and what could be improved. In our Writing this week, we have been learning about writing clear and detailed instructions on how to make our Victorian houses. We learned about the use of Imperative (bossy) verbs and how to set them out correctly.

We have continued our learning on fractions and how to find equivalent fractions and how to simplify them to. We have begun learning how to find fractions of an amount using our division skills. We created pizzas to show our understanding of equivalent fractions.

In P.E, we have been learning about different balances and rolls in gymnastics. We completed our final session of rugby too.

In French, we have been learning about how to ask and say where we live, colours and numbers.

We conducted experiments in Science about how to use different materials to stop ice from melting. We wrote up our findings into a science report, summing up what we know about insulators.

In outdoor learning, we looked at our bird feeders and used natural materials to create nests.

In Drama, we have been taking on character roles from Victorian times and making short scenes to present to an audience.

We have continued to develop our drumming skills with Mr Foggo.

In Art, we have been developing our line drawing skills and thinking about our foreground, middle ground and background in our Victorian pictures.
