This week we had a visit from the library to tell us all about this years Summer reading challenge. We are excited to visit the library, read and take part in challenges. We have been learning about symmetry and tessellation in maths this week. we had to use lots of perseverance to create a tessellation pattern. In health and wellbeing we looked at people who help us. we have continued discussing the topic of diversity, equality and rights through different stories. We have also created voice bubbles to illustrate our right to be heard and we made pictures for some of our favourite rights. In art this week we loved being creative making our 3D summer scenes.

This week we were learning about the 5 K’s of Sikhism and we got to practice our grid referencing skills outside with Miss Purvis. We have also been learning about symmetry, area and about right angles. it has been a busy few days for Maths! We spent some time talking about diversity and equality, where we decided to make a kindness chain to show that one kind act can lead o another. Each person has their own link. We also had an opportunity to finish our I am Unique shields and had a circle time all about belonging and feeling included. For health we learnt about what plants and animals need to survive. WE have panted our  own sunflower seeds and created butterfly life cycles and it is now time to take them home. I wonder how big everyone’s sunflowers will get.

On Thursday we had Ms Allan. We learnt about animation on ZU3D on the iPad. We are all really enjoying this app. in maths we were learning about grid references, directions and compass points. in RME we learnt about the 5 pillars of Islam and how the pilgrimage to Mecca.

Sports day was a big success. We had lots of fun and showed very good sportsmanship. We have also been learning about diversity and we started making I am Unique Shields.

This week we have had a visit from the RNLI who spoke to us about staying safe at the water. We learnt how to make a star float to keep us safe in the water if we get into difficulty, we learnt about the different fags we might see at the beach and not to take floaties to the beach. We also had a special road safety magic show to help us how to stay safe when crossing the road. It was fab! in maths we have been learning about symmetry and area. We started to learn about food chains and planted sunflower seeds which we cant wait to watch them grow.

A busy week this week! we have been continuing with our learning in science about classification and sorted animals into groups such as mammals, fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects. We also learned about vertebrates and invertebrates. We finished off our money topic and maths and were impressed at how much we had learnt! In literacy we learnt about connectives to help us uplevel our sentences. In PE we played some parachute games. Have a lovely long weekend!

This week we have been continue our learning on money. We have been playing lots of games and activities to work out change. in literacy we have been learning to up level sentences with interesting openers as well as wow words. In science we have been learning about living and non living things. We have started to learn about classification of animals, thinking about why we might do this and how. we made a classification key and will try it out next week. For health and wellbeing we have been continuing our learning about growth mindset a made a how to shape your brain recipe to share some of our strategies.

This week we continued our learning about Growth Mindset through the story The Dot. We then explored texture, medium and paint to create our own special dots. This turned out super! We have been continuing to learn about money using ict, games and role play. for literacy we have been enjoying working through our comprehension cards and we have been upleveling sentences with Wow Words. We used creativity to make nature bookmarks in outdoor learning and for PE we continued learning about athletics and played parachute games in the shade when we were too hot.

This week we have been continuing to learn about money and we have been playing lots of games and going shopping with our coins. We have also been practicing our sketching skills and still life outside, it was very relaxing. In science We have started learning about living and non living things. We went on a scavenger hunt and grouped things into living, once living and no living things and we learnt the 4 ways to explain if something is living, growing, consuming energy, responding and can reproduce. We had to use our communication and problem solving skills to work in groups.

This Thursday and Friday we have been busy playing lots of games about money. We have been matching, sorting, counting and finding change. In literacy we were were upleveling sentences using wow but we had to watch out for Sergeant Sabotage  as he might steal or wow words. in outdoor learning we looked at different textures and patterns while making rubbings. We also used wax resist to create some under the sea pictures. We have been continuing to learn about growth mindset and started working on athletics skills. Enjoy the long weekend.

It has been great to see everyone after the Easter break and sharing all our news. We have started learning about money this week. We recapped identifying coins, the different ways to pay for things and working out different amounts of money. We also did a sumdog money challenge. For literacy we were finishing off our learning about different tenses and enjoyed playing a board game about the past and present tense and creating our own time travelling sentences.

 

Foe outdoor learning we went on a minibeast hunt and we were surprised at how many different minibeasts we could find already. In art we used some of our learning from the minibeast hunt to help us create magnifying insect picture. we used our sketching and water colour skills along with discussing scale to get the sizes right. we wanted a zoomed in look through a magnifying glass.

In Health and wellbeing we have started to learn about  the importance of a growth mindset. We have started to think about things we want to get better at and how we might go about this. In P.E we have been learning a new game which kept us running around for ages while trying to remember the rules. It was lots of fun!
