Monday the 11th of May 2026

We had the most wonderful trip to Tentsmuir Forest with Naturescot today.
We were able to hold different objects and learn more about the native species in our local area.
We enjoyed bug hunting and even found a few frogs and a sleepy toad! We also gathered natural materials to make journey sticks to display in our classroom.
After that we went to explore the beach, where we looked through the telescope and also made sand sculptures.
Finally we had a play at the adventure playground.
What a wonderful day together! ❤️

Wednesday 6th May 2026

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

This week we researched white-tailed eagles 🦅. We read with a partner and used a highlighter to find key words when skimming and scanning. We then used our notes to write our own information reports.

We did our PE on the top pitch and practised fielding and striking games. everyone was trying hard to be encouraging to their each other.

We learned about the city of Paris and compared it to our own local area. We were excited to find out some interesting facts.

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

This week we reviewed our learning targets from last term and talked about our new targets. Our learning logs are to be back in on Friday please.

In numeracy we are continuing to look at multiplication and been times tables.

We did outdoor learning with the P1s and worked cooperatively to create different builds.

For spelling we have been focussing on common words in class. Please continue practising these at home also.

We are learning how to skim and scan for key information linked to our topic. We are also learning how to do mind mapping and to write information reports.

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

It has been so nice to see everyone after the holidays! We all wrote about what we had been up to and shared our news with our friends.
We also started learning about multiplication. We talked about sets and skip counting.
We started our new topic about animals and the local environment. We were learning about how animals have adapted to their surroundings.
In art we made deer faces using mixed materials.
We took notes and turned them into information reports about capybaras, which we saw on Wednesday in our trip!
Our school trip to the Scottish Deer Centre was such a great day out. We saw lots of animals and enjoyed the bird show.

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

We enjoyed learning our Spring songs together and doing Easter crafts. We said goodbye to Miss Smith and made her lots of cards. We will miss her and we all wish her well.
The sun was out for loose parts which was lovely.
In Health we practised the recovery position and learned what to do if someone has serious bleeding.
We played spelling sparkle and shared lots of stories.

In PE we played lots of fun games. In French we talked about our likes and dislikes for colours.
Have the best holiday and I’ll see you in two weeks time!

 

Friday 27th March 2026

We have continued to enjoy working in our committees this week – it was fun to learn the new Wake Up Shake Up Dance that the Health and Wellbeing Committee have created for us.

In Maths we have been learning about patterns and relationships of numbers.  We have practised adding and subtracting numbers in 2s, 5s, 10s, 3s and 4s.

In Outdoor Learning we used many skills when playing noughts and crosses using natural materials.  We had to be creative when thinking about our counters and how to keep a score.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we hope to see everyone at our Spring Assembly next week.

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

This week we have all been working together in our committees with friends from across the school. The Eco Committee made pitfall traps.

We wore odd socks on Monday for World Down-syndrome Day.
In numeracy the p3s are working on vertical subtraction and the P2s are practising number bonds to 20.
On Tuesday the winners were announced for the Brikk window design competition.

We wrote Spring acrostic poems and also used ICT to design our own Easter egg packaging!

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

In ICT we continued to use sketchpad on the laptops to design and create shop windows.
We talked about our weekend news using different openers and wow words for feelings and then wrote about it.
In spelling we have all improved and some of us have moved up to the next set of common words. We are continuing to work with spelling partners to practise our own personal lists of words.
We worked on jumps, rolls, balances and travelling in gymnastics.
p2s completed some number assessments on subtraction within 20 and p3s within 100.

We celebrated Dennis the Menace’s 10th birthday!

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

This week we have been using the equipment safely to balance, travel and jump in gymnastics.
We have been enjoying sharing lots of stories for Book Week. We also entered a school competition where we had to design a front cover of a book with Buttercup the sheep, our school mascot!
In French we were learning the words for pets and we had fun repeating them back.
We enjoyed watching the P7s special performance of their dance for the Glee Music Festival. They were great!
In Health we started to learn about how to help a conscious casualty.

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

In Numeracy the p3s have been learning to use a 3 step strategy for subtracting with bridging within 100. We have been using whiteboards to show our method.
p2s have been using number lines to subtract within 20.
We have started doing a 10 minute free write on a Monday about weekend news.
In ICT we are starting to learn how to use the netbooks.
For music we had fun using the boomwhackers for songs from K Pop Demon Hunters!
We were so happy the weather was kind and we got outside with the P1s to explore Loose Parts.
We are continuing to do class debates and to turn these into written discussions.
