Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

 

This week in writing we were writing persuasive letters to Mrs Meiklem asking for a class party. They were very convincing!

We were working in pairs in numeracy to solve problems and to complete challenges to consolidate all of our learning this session.

In RHSP p3s were learning about hygiene and keeping clean. We also practised our summer songs for the end of term.

It was so sunny and we enjoyed taking our reading books outside to read under shady trees.

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

This week we have been writing persuasive letters about what class pet we would like. There were some very persuasive arguments for snakes, parrots, frogs and many more!

We have entered the Fife contest on Sumdog in numeracy and we have been doing ‘speedy times tables’ revision.

In PE we played football in celebration of the World Cup.

In RHSP the p3s were learning together and the P2s were together.

We made Father’s Day cards in art and practised our summer songs in music.

 

Wednesday 10th June 2026

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

We have all been enjoying Sports Week this week. On Monday we had fun at the mini Commonwealth themed games. We also watched the house football tournament.
On Tuesday we cheered on the house captains when they played the staff in a netball match.
On Wednesday we all took part in the cross country. Everyone did such a fabulous job! We also did a house challenge where we worked in teams to pass a jug of water to the end of the trim trail.

In addition we created a class display to raise awareness of plastic pollution in our oceans.
We also completed some check ups to identify our next steps in multiplication and division.

We worked in our year groups for RHSP. The p3s were discussing disability and the P2s were talking about adults who help us.

Wednesday 3rd June 2026

Tuesday and Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

This week we have been preparing for World Ocean Day and linking this to our topic. We have been learning about the River Tay and thinking about how we can protect this wonderful habitat.

P3s have been using pictures and concrete materials to work out remainders in division. P2s have been learning the two times table.

In RHSP we worked with our year groups. P3 were learning about stereotypes. We also started our ‘Cool in School’ programme.

In spelling we are continuing to work with spelling partners on common words. Everyone is improving.

If you have any small plastic items at home we would love if you could wash them and bring them in for a class display to do with plastics.

 

Wednesday 27th May 2026

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

This week the p3s have been dividing by sharing and grouping. They have been using lots of fun ICT games and concrete materials. We also learned about remainders.
The P2s enjoyed sharing using the ‘doggy division’ game and are using pictures to support multiplication.

We have been practising common words in spelling. Please keep going over these at home also.

In health we were learning about similarities and differences.

We were doing coordinates in maths.

In PE we were practising for Sports Day and playing rounders.

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

This week we loved our outdoor learning day with the Natural Connections leader Tony. We all got to make yummy vegan pancakes outside. They were delicious!
We also made nature bracelets and did some sketching outside.

Our weekly school target is to read something everyday and we enjoyed some wild ERIC!

P3s were learning about division ➗ this week and we were linking division and multiplication facts.
P2s were continuing to count sets of objects for multiplication problems. We enjoyed playing the game buzz!

We took part in an art competition to design a pair of trainers for the Commonwealth Games. They look fantastic!

 

Monday the 11th of May 2026

We had the most wonderful trip to Tentsmuir Forest with Naturescot today.
We were able to hold different objects and learn more about the native species in our local area.
We enjoyed bug hunting and even found a few frogs and a sleepy toad! We also gathered natural materials to make journey sticks to display in our classroom.
After that we went to explore the beach, where we looked through the telescope and also made sand sculptures.
Finally we had a play at the adventure playground.
What a wonderful day together! ❤️

Wednesday 6th May 2026

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

This week we researched white-tailed eagles 🦅. We read with a partner and used a highlighter to find key words when skimming and scanning. We then used our notes to write our own information reports.

We did our PE on the top pitch and practised fielding and striking games. everyone was trying hard to be encouraging to their each other.

We learned about the city of Paris and compared it to our own local area. We were excited to find out some interesting facts.

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

This week we reviewed our learning targets from last term and talked about our new targets. Our learning logs are to be back in on Friday please.

In numeracy we are continuing to look at multiplication and been times tables.

We did outdoor learning with the P1s and worked cooperatively to create different builds.

For spelling we have been focussing on common words in class. Please continue practising these at home also.

We are learning how to skim and scan for key information linked to our topic. We are also learning how to do mind mapping and to write information reports.

Monday to Wednesday with Mrs Meiklem

It has been so nice to see everyone after the holidays! We all wrote about what we had been up to and shared our news with our friends.
We also started learning about multiplication. We talked about sets and skip counting.
We started our new topic about animals and the local environment. We were learning about how animals have adapted to their surroundings.
In art we made deer faces using mixed materials.
We took notes and turned them into information reports about capybaras, which we saw on Wednesday in our trip!
Our school trip to the Scottish Deer Centre was such a great day out. We saw lots of animals and enjoyed the bird show.
