Happy Friday !

We have had a very but week in P1.

Literacy – our new initial consonant blends this week were sk, sn and sm. Our writing job this week was to write a Spring poem. We all enjoyed our reading books this week. We have been working hard on our key words.
Numeracy/Maths- We have been working on our numbers to 20 learning. We have also been learning to tell the time half past on analogue displays. We enjoyed some time on Sum dog.

Art- We printed beautiful Spring tulips using a fork.
PE-We enjoyed our gymnastics stations and taking part in the mile.
Outdoor learning- We loved exploring with the large loose parts.

We also loved designing our Easter bonnets with our P7 Buddies.

We loved the Newports Got Talent show on Friday afternoon.

Happy Friday!

We loved our visit to Falkland Palace. We got to dress up, meet Mary Queen of Scots, make bread, explore the place and gardens and play tennis. Our trip was lots of fun.

PE-We loved our gymnastics activities. We were jumping, balancing, rolling and doing bunny hops. We enjoyed taking part in the mile.

Numeracy/Maths- We have been working hard on our subtraction learning, We have also been learning to tell the time half past on an analogue clock.
Literacy- Our new initial consonant blends were th and thr. We all enjoyed our reading books this week.
Science- We were learning about rainbows. We decorated CDs and displayed them on the window to make rainbows.
Health-We were learning more about staying safe when crossing the road.

Outdoor Learning- We made little dens for small animals using natural materials.
RME- We were learning about the religious festival ‘Holi’.

Happy Friday!

We have had another fun and hardworking week in Primary 1.

PE-We loved using some gymnastics equipment to practise our balancing, rolling and jumping skills. We enjoyed taking part in the mile.

Numeracy/Maths- We have been continuing to work hard on our subtraction and time learning. We enjoyed some time on Sum Dog.

Literacy- Our new initial consonant blends were sp, spr, and str. We all enjoyed our reading books this week. We enjoyed having our P7 Buddies back to share stories with us. We were working on our handwriting in our new jotters. We wrote letters to NASA. We can’t what to get a reply. We loved celebrating World Book Day. We took part in lots of fun activities. We all loved dressing up.

Art – We made a special surprise for our mums.

Health-We have been learning how to keep safe when crossing a road.

Happy Friday from Primary 1!

We have had a hardworking and fun week in Primary 1.

We are all enjoying having Miss Appleby working with us.

Art-We were learning about the water cycle. We made our own mosaic rain drops.

Literacy-Our new sounds were fr, gr and pr. We all loved our reading books this week. Our porches of writing was about our favourite weather and what we had to wear when it was this weather.
Numeracy/Maths- We have been continuing to work hard on our subtraction learning. We have also been learning about half past on an analogue clock.

PE- We loved doing different balances and rolls during our gymnastics time. We also enjoyed doing the mile. We enjoyed doing a bit of yoga with Miss Appleby.

Topic- Our new topic is Weather.

Literacy- We all enjoyed our reading books this week. Our new initial consonant blends were br,dr and cr. Our writing this week was about a Chinese dragon.
Maths/Numeracy- We have been continuing our subtraction and time learning.

Science-We have been learning about how the earth and moon travel round the sun. We made very cool models.

PE-We have been enjoying our gymnastics activities. We have been practising different rolls and balances. We also had a Judo taster. This was so much fun.

Health-We have been discussing what we need to do to be healthy.

Outdoor Learning- We enjoyed  exploring with the large loose parts. We also made bird feeders with our P7 buddies.

We have Miss Appleby working with us until May.
Miss Allan worked with us on Thursday morning.

Happy Tuesday !
We have had a hardworking few days in Primary 1.
We loved having all our special adults helping us this morning to make our junk model castles. This was lots of fun.
PE- We enjoyed our Scottish dancing. We also enjoyed running the mile.
Art- We made lovely Valentine’s Day cards.
Topic- We made junk model castles.
Literacy- Our new initial consonant blend was ‘sl’.
Numeracy – We continued to work on our subtraction learning.

Literacy- We all enjoyed our reading books this week. Our writing was about a castle. Our new sounds were er and ar.
PE- We are enjoying learning different Scottish dances. We also enjoyed some Yoga.
Health- We discussed our back up team- people to talk to if we have a worry.
Miss Appleby worked with us this week. She did a fun getting to know you activity. We also learned about the planets in the solar system and made a mobile.

We have had another busy but hard working week in Primary 1.
Numeracy/Maths- We have been continuing to work hard on our subtraction learning. We have also been learning to tell the time o’clock on an analogue clock.
Literacy- Our writing this week was about our ‘McCoos’. We all enjoyed our reading books. Our new sounds were oi and ue.
Art- We made castle towers. We printed the bricks using Lego blocks. We also added a knight guarding our castles.
Outdoor learning- We enjoyed exploring with the large loose parts. We made castles in small groups. We also did a bird watch with our P7 Buddies. This was fun.
Science- We were learning about the sun and the moon.

Miss Goode worked with us on Thursday.

Topic- We have been learning about some of the locations of Scottish castles.
Outdoor Learning- We enjoyed exploring with the large loose parts.
Health- We discussed using deep breathing to help us blow our worries away.
Literacy- We enjoyed our reading books this week. Our new sounds were ‘qu and ou ‘. Our writing was about The Loch Ness Monster.

Numeracy/ Maths- We have been learning about subtraction. We made our own analogue clocks to help us practise telling the time.
French – We learned about some colours in French.
