Hello everyone, we hope you all have had a great week! Here is a quick look at what we have been up to in nursery…..

This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, predicting, being curious, sharing, self-esteem, technology, outdoor learning and problem solving.

In all weather conditions this week  outside we have observed the children engaging in a variety of role play scenarios where they have assume roles from the world around them. We have seen lots of sharing, and listening to others ideas and lots of detailed descriptive language being used to describe what the items of loose parts are being used for We have seen pirates and treasure maps where a group used their mark making skills to create their maps. Some children have been using skills to investigate and explore to create the best solution in creating a ramp for a truck to go down. While others were seen exploring the flow of water  and how far it would go by pushing it.

      

Some children asked to go to the bottom garden to explore the environment. We observed lots of skills to climb,  independently developing their awareness to risk asses on being safe while  in the trees. Some explored the large pipes, using skills to push, roll, using a range of  descriptive language and make comparisons. A group shared their knowledge of not to touch or eat anything found outside after discovering a large group of mushrooms.

 

“You don’t eat them because they might be poisonous, and they can make you poorly”.

Inside our Learning wall topic of animals and sea life is slowly developing with more children now becoming more engaged and are sharing their work and ideas, thoughts to it. We have had one child sharing his favourite books and drawing a picture of his favourite character. Another after asking a question if Star fish are real, completed some research on this and  shared her learning to others

” they live in all the seas”,

“they like being on their own, they’re grumpy”

After an initial interest in shadows after reading the story of the Gruffalo’s child, the adult supported a child to create an area to investigate more shadows through using a book, torch and dark pieces of material. They used skills to find the solution to recreate a shadow, inspiring others to experience this too. This lead to the children using a book to explore other experiments they could experience. The resources were left out to allow the children to independently explore throughout the week.

At snack the children worked with the adult to make freshly squeezed orange juice. They demonstrated skills to cut, squeeze, sieve and pour using a range to utensils that sparked conversations on why we need fruit, and less of unhealthy foods. They shared their knowledge, linking personal experiences at from home.

“We could lemons, they are sour”

“Apple juice too”

“I would like apple juice, or bananas”.

The children have been really creative whilst sharing their feelings about being at nursery. They have created images of themselves using  oil pastels and a mirror. The discussions also included their knowledge of facial features and body parts, but also how we similar and different  but we’re the same too. These will be displayed in the dining hall for the children to share with others around.

• Can all parents if your child has a packed lunch can we please ensure grapes and big fruits are cut to minimise the risk of choking.🍇
• Can we remind all parents\carers to park in a white space only as the yellow spaces are for staff only.
• If your child is going to be picked up by someone else, please let the ladies know or the office so we are aware.
• Can we ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for all the weather  conditions that may arise.
• Can we ensure when you are leaving the nursery that the gate is locked.
• Can all parents ensure your child has a set of waterproofs and wellies to enable play outside when it’s wet.
• Our nursery blog is sent out every week on a Friday afternoon.

Our Cosy Time Library 📚

• This will be available to families at drop off and pick up time every day for you and your child to choose a book to take home to read 🏡There is no time limit on our library books we would just ask that you sign the book with your child’s name, the title of the book they have taken, the date it was taken and when it was returned ✍️f your child has any special requests for a certain book, please ask a member of staff or send a message on seesaw and we can help you 😃There will be a folder with your child’s name for them to put the book in for its journey to home and back 📁if you have any questions, any member of staff would be happy to help.    

Loose Parts.

We are always in need of replenishing our loose parts in nursery. If you are out and about on walks, or are planning to recycle items, can we ask that you think of us first please 😃

Here is some of the items we are looking for:

Conkers, stones, shells, tea cups, sticks, picture frames, plates, wood, drainpipes any old garden furniture such as chairs, tables or parasols, etc,  anything you think might be of used in nursery.
