Newport Nursery week of the 15.12.25.

Well we have made it to another end of term and what a busy term it has been. We have lot seen lots of children insentiently developing their own learning, and confidently sharing these with others.

Here is a quick look at what we have been up to in nursery…..

This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, predicting, being curious, sharing, self-esteem, technology, outdoor learning and problem solving.

Outside the children enjoyed creating a range of Christmas images to paint a card. They discussed colours and shared what their favourite Christmas character was. This was continued inside to with some children adding sparkles to their designs. They talked about the textures, and used problem solving skills to find the correct way to keep these on their pictures.

A group of children were building a den and several children used their imagination to come up with several ideas to attach the den blankets. One child used hair tongs as a large clip and another child used several heavy toys to hold the blanket in place. Lots of fantastic teamwork.

Some children decided that they would explore the instruments to see what sounds they could makes. Has their confidence grew they were recalling familiar sounds and tunes to sing these songs keeping to a beat.

While others have been discovering different sounds as they  used the beaters and hit the different notes of the xylophone.

Throughout the week we have been continuing to promoting hand and eye coordination using manipulative skills using the Lego  which was set up for the children to explore and share their ideas to create a range of models and to confidently share these with others. Lots of fantastic ideas emerged with imaginative role play occurring.

Inside to link into the Gingerbread decorating experience on the Sing a long day some children used their skills to create their own images of the character. Afterwards the listened to the story using the puppet, and afterwards they experience using the CD story with songs linked to the character and events in the book.

This week we had the very successful Sing a long afternoon, and what a lovely time we had. A very big Thank you to all who attended and stayed to participate in some fun experiences with your child. What lovely singing by all and how confident they were too to experience performing in front of a audience. What fun did they children and you too in using the photo booth with the different props. We have some amazing pictures too. We also had the picture hunt and the Gingerbread man decorating activity.

On Thursday we had our Nursery Christmas party filled with lots of dancing and party games.. Here is a quick snapshot of the events.
