Hello everyone, Here is a quick look at what we have been up to in nursery this week…..
This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, predicting, being curious, sharing, self-esteem, technology, outdoor learning and problem solving.
This week the children have been focusing on being active, participating in a range of sporting experiences, and we linked the World cup which started this week on Monday with a Scottish themed day. The children wore their football kits, displaying great pride in their team stating that Scotland were going to win the cup!!!!!!.
On Tuesday they participated in a range of track events from running to hopping in their house teams. Afterwards they watched the staff members take on P7 pupils in a Netball match. That finished 8-6 to the staff.
On Friday we had our sports day and how good were all our children!!!!!!!! they were brilliant, taking part and sharing each others achievements.
Play on Pedals this week continued to focus on steering and control whilst moving at speed with an awareness of others around. We encouraged this through games Animals in the zoo, and Round the garden. I have copies of these games that you could do at home, please just ask myself or another member of staff.
Outside the children have been creating their own obstacle course using a range of loose parts. They used a range of skills to make their way round having lots of fun.
A group of children spent time investigating the water area exploring different ways to run water through a range of loose parts . They used language to describe and compare lengths, heights whilst displaying skills to problem solve and try out ways before making changes. They added leaves and lavender to create a range of magic potions.
In the forest this week, the children engaged in a range of play, taking risks through climbing and using the rope swing. This week we completed the den making it larger to be able to contain more children to experience.
Throughout the week the children have been responding to challenging experiences and creating their own designs using a range of loose parts. One child created a sporty snowman using the sports equipment. Others participated in a game of What’s the time Mr Wolf recognising and match o’clock and digital faces. They began to explore quarter past, quarter to and half past.
