Learning Overview for Primary 3/4
| Literacy
WRITING: We are learning how to write creatively. We will use the tools for writing to help us create our own short stories and poems. To make our writing come alive we will learn to use similes, and alliteration. We will also focus on reading over our work to check for mistakes. SPELLING & PHONICS: In spelling we will continue to word on spelling using phonic skills and common word lists. READING: This term we will learn the difference between fact and opinion. We will continue to identify the main idea of a text by exploring poems, short stories and non-fiction. LISTENING & TALKING: Our main focus over term four will be listening to others respectfully and sharing our ideas to others using gesture, expression and pace. |
Numeracy and Mathematics
NUMERACY: Working with money and giving change within different amounts. Revision of multiplication and division. Find numbers between two digits. Rounding numbers and estimating where numbers are on a number line.
MATHEMATICS: We shall be learning about how to handle information using tables and bar graphs. Also measurements in standard units.

| Health and Wellbeing
P.E This term we are developing or gymnastic skills with a focus on balancing and linking movements together. We shall then be working on running, jumping and throwing to prepare for our school sports. Miss Donaldson will be teaching us hockey skills and athletics.
Health: We will be looking at how human life begins and online safety using the RSHP website. We will also watch videos from the Tree of Knowledge and talk about ways to build resilience. Outdoor Learning: We will enjoy maths ,literacy and mindfulness activities in the quad and playground. We will also be taking trips in the local area to reinforce our Biodiversity topic.

Our Topic will be about…..
Our topic this term is “Biodiversity”. We shall be studying different animal groups and habitats. We shall be using our reading skills to extract information from non-fiction texts. We shall also explore food chains and how living things depend on each other.
