Welcome to Leuchars Primary School

Leuchars Primary School was built in the mid sixties and is a co-educational,  non-denominational school. The school is in the centre of Leuchars village with beautiful countryside, beaches and forest trails close by.

Our aim is to create an ethos within the school environment where pupils, parents and staff work together to provide the highest possible standard of education for everyone in the school.

The school building has a modern, bright appearance and we benefit from a large tarmac playground in addition to extensive playing fields and a garden. The Nursery class is housed in a separate building within the school grounds with its own outside play area but it is very much a part of our school.

Traditionally, our school and the local community have had close links with RAF Leuchars and now Leuchars Station. Approximately 65% of our pupils come from MOD Families.  We are very experienced in accommodating new families into our school and settling children into their new routines and environment. If you are visiting our website because you will be moving to the area, please email the headteacher to discuss your child’s placement in the school. You do not need to have moved into your new house in Leuchars before you begin the enrolment process. You will be interested to read the documents in the Transition Section.

At Leuchars Primary School, our aim is to support children in all areas of their lives and to ensure they are safe, healthy, achieving, nurtured, active, respected, responsible and included (SHANARRI). All families have times when their child needs a little additional support, and we work with teachers and parents in collaborating and communicating to meet the needs of the child/children. This might be because of concerns with learning, changes in family circumstance, a parent needing to be away from home for a while or because of concerns in school. We work with a variety of agencies to best support our families.

We have a large number of modern resources to enhance the teaching and learning opportunities available to our pupils and are committed to replacing and maintaining them regularly so that our children can achieve the very highest standards during their time here. We have a computer suite, which can accommodate up to thirty children at one time, and a new class set of 32 iPads. Each classroom has an interactive Smartboard and Visualiser.
