Ladybank School was built in the 1890s and is a single storey, Victorian building which accommodates 5 classrooms, a central hall used for P.E. and Drama and a dining hall. An annex building accommodates the Nursery and Primary 1 classes as well as the music room.
The school serves the village of Ladybank along with the outlying hamlets of Edenstown and Giffordtown and several farms and isolated homes. The children from Ladybank transfer to Bell Baxter High School in Cupar.
Ladybank School is co-educational, non-denominational and takes children from 3-12 years of age. The Nursery is open for full day sessions (9am-3pm) with lunch served in the dinner hall.
The main aim of Ladybank School is to enable each child to achieve his or her potential through an appropriate curriculum, motivated staff, a caring, supportive ethos and strong partnership with parents. Children are encouraged to reflect on their work and share the responsibility for identifying personal progress and future learning targets.
We have a very active Parent Partnership and Fundraising sub group who are consulted on aspects of school developments and who organise successful fund raising social events throughout the school session to provide the school with money to buy much appreciated ‘extras’ and help with transport costs for outings.
We are always happy to meet with parents and carers to discuss issues or concerns out with the formal Parent Interviews, which take place each year in October and March. Further opportunities for parents to be involved in the life of the school include Open Mornings and Afternoons held each term, invitations to school assemblies and concerts and opportunities to be parent/carer helpers in the classrooms and on school outings. All visits are postponed just now due to the COVID restrictions but we very much hope we can welcome parents and carers again soon.
