We started off with a presentation about hazards and risks, we got all given an animated photo of a construction site with people who are creating a hazard like bullying others, driving in a car on the site, working without a hard hat, spraying things that are unsafe to inhale next to people working without gas masks, there was many hazards shown in the photo that I haven’t listed but there was around 10-15.

We then went into the practical part and there were two people at each station who were telling us what to do and would answer any question we had. There were multiple themes all around the room, one of them being plumbing, for the pluming we were given an example of a piping system and were given all the parts and we learned how to put it together with the help of the people who worked there. There was then an electrical system, we had to connect the conduits together and make a simple electrical system. Last but not least we done a bit of woodworking, we were given bits of wood and the challenge was to cut them with a saw to fit different sized holes, the goal was to get a perfect fit. After we were finished with the practical part we went back to the room where we had been shown a presentation and they continued to talk about the salary you would get and what type of stuff you would be doing depending on which job you picked. They told us all about the application process and how to get a job there, they also went over the expectations they have.

Overall I loved it, all the staff were so kind and fun. I left the place knowing much more about joiners, electricians and plumbers.
