Anthony Nolan Champions Event (J Davidson)
Gentle reminder, our event is today in the IT Hub. Our Champions will be running the event with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Pupils have appointment slips in tutor today but there is also a list outside the door. Pupils can come along and sign up even without an appointment too.

Hoping to get as many on the register as possible – somebody could save a life!!!!

Equalities Group (Dr Murray)
The Equality Group exists to tackle all sorts of inequality such as sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, disablism, and other variations. Joining this group is a great way to actually change things at KHS. We meet in A4 every Wednesday lunchtime. Bring your lunch!

S2 Football Training (Mr Geissler)
S2 boys football training is on after school today. Meet in the PE department for a 3:30pm start.

S4-S6 Fashion & Textiles and Art & Design – Study Support (Mrs Donaldson)
Wednesdays afterschool, 3:15-5pm in D15.

Art Club (Mrs Donaldson)
No art club for the foreseeable future.

LGBT+ History Month and “Purple Friday” (Equality Group)
February is “LGBT+ History Month” at KHS, when we celebrate the contributions LGBT+ people have made to the world over the years. Keep an eye on the KHS LGBT+ Twitter for the historical facts and interesting people.

Friday 24 February is “Purple Friday”, your opportunity to wear something purple to show your support for equality and diversity at KHS and across the world! This is NOT A “DRESS DOWN DAY” but a purple item of clothing will be allowed! 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️

Army Workshop – Calling all S3-S6 pupils! (Mrs Whyte)
An opportunity has arisen for some pupils to join a workshop run by the British Army. This workshop will take place on 17 March and give you the opportunity to work in teams to complete a series of challenges and tasks. If you would be interested in this opportunity please apply using this link or scan the QR Code.

S6 Hoodies (Mrs Rae)
Here is the QR code to select your size and colour for your leavers’ hoodies. Let me know if you are having any issues. Please come and check your name on the list at the PSO base also as it will be what appears in the #23 on the back. I will be sending the order on the 10 March so please ensure all forms and payments are completed by then.

Science Research Placements (Miss Irvine/Dr Murray/Miss Tennant)
We have an opportunity for folk in S5 to spend some time during the summer working in REAL science/engineering labs. This would obviously be a great chance for anyone looking to study Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths subjects beyond school. See Miss Irvine/Dr Murray/Miss Tennant if you’re interested! DYW Padlet (Mrs Whyte)
Lots of new things on the Padlet including:

  • Apprenticeships – Fife Council Trades, Diageo, Babcock, University of St Andrews
  • Volunteering Opportunities – including opportunities for those aged 13+ who want to start their careers early.
  • Job Fairs and Events – Including Edinburgh Airport, Jobs in Fife, Retail, Accountancy

Speak to Mrs Whyte if you require any help with applications, finding jobs or want some work experience.

S1-S3 Maths Support Group (Mr Jones)
Need help with maths homework? Stuck on something you’ve looked at in lessons? Come along to the S1-S3 maths support group, every Wednesday lunchtime (1:05-1:40pm). Bring your lunch, bring your questions.

Guitar Ensemble (Mrs Simpson)
The Guitar Ensemble will take place on Wednesday lunchtime in E13.

S3 & Senior Netball (Mrs Steedman)
All S3 pupils and Senior pupils (S4, S5 & S6) interested in playing netball this year, training will be afterschool every Wednesday from 3:30-4:15pm.

Senior Art & Fashion Study Support (Mrs Donaldson)
All pupils S4-S6 studying Art & Design or Fashion & Textiles are welcome to attend Wednesday study support with Mrs Donaldson, D15 at 3:15-5pm.

THURSDAY 23 FEBRUARY

Piano and Upper Strings Lessons (Mrs Simpson)
Lessons are on today in the Music department. You can find your time on Teams or on the department timetable board.

S2-S4 Music Lunch Club (Mrs Duckett)
This now takes place in E10 every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

String Group (Mrs Simpson)
The String Group will take place on Thursday lunchtime in E13.

Calm Colouring Lunch Club (Ms Geddes/Miss Millar)
If you would like a calm space to have lunch and do a bit of colouring, with the option to chat through any questions with our Mental Health Ambassadors, then this is the club for you! Head along to A3 (Science) where Miss Millar and Ms Geddes will have all the resources you need to chill out and recharge for the afternoon ahead. Today from 1:10pm.

S1 & S2 Netball (Mrs Steedman)
Training will be afterschool every Thursday starting this week from 3:30-4:15pm.

Film & Media Study Support (Mr McPherson)
Film and Media study support for S3 is on today after school in Studio 1.
