College Applications (J Davidson)
Thurs, Pd 3 – any in S4 interested in applying for Sept, fulltime courses should register with their teacher (study skills, RE, SE or PE) and then come to B16/18.
Tues-Fri lunchtime – anyone any in S5/6 interested in applying for Sept, fulltime courses should come to B16/18 from 1:15pm.

S2 “Speedy STEM” – Monday 30 January (Dr Murray)
For the first time in a while, we’re delighted to be welcoming our friends from Fife College back to KHS to run a “Speedy STEM” event for all the S2. This will involve activities in the hall involving various aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths, and will be LOADS of fun! The timetable is…

Fife Festival of Music Permission Slips (Mrs Duckett)
Fife Festival of Music Permission Slips must be returned to the music department as soon as possible please. Hand in to Mrs Simpson or Mrs Duckett if you are participating in Choir, String Group, Wind Band and/or Guitar Club.

Thursday Lunch Art Club Meeting (Mrs Donaldson)
Art club has evolved since it first began. Please come D15 Thursday by 1:15pm if art club is something you are interested in.

No Ties Girls Football (Mrs Steedman)
Every Friday at lunch time we will be doing no ties girls football where you can come down to the games hall for a game of football. You do not need a change of PE kit, just tie off and play (but if you want to get changed you can)! All girls of all ages and all abilities are invited along! This will now be instead of training after school on a Tuesday!

Senior Art & Fashion Study Support (Mrs Donaldson)
All pupils S4-S6 studying Art & Design or Fashion & Textiles are welcome to attend Wednesday study support with Mrs Donaldson in D15, 3:15-5pm.

S2 & S3 Public Speaking Competition (Miss Osborne)
Please see Miss Osborne in B17 as soon as possible if you are interested in taking part in a public speaking competition. The topic that you will be discussing is: “Society believes everyone should be thin and beautiful”.

S3 Engineering the Future for Girls Programme – Strathclyde University Summer School (Dr Black)
This programme is run by Strathclyde University to promote careers in Engineering for girls. Strathclyde University are running an in-person summer school this year (5 – 8  June 2023). You will get the opportunity to work with university and industry professionals and learn about the various careers paths that engineering can lead you to. If you are interested, please speak to either Dr Black (A6) or Miss Tennant (A7) for more information about the application process. Applications are open and the closing date for applications is Monday 6 February.

S6 Yearbook (Miss Lipton)
Final call for S6 Yearbook submissions! Payment needs to be made before Friday 17 February.

Bowling with LEAP Sports (Dr Murray)
February is LGBT History Month and to mark that LEAP Sports have organised a bowling competition on Sunday 12 February at Tenpin Falkirk. It’s for aged 14+ – if you fancy being part of it see Dr Murray in A4!

S6 Leaver Hoodies (Mrs Rae)
S6 Leaver Hoodies can now be paid for on iPayimpact. They are priced at £22 and this includes nickname and a huge choice of colours. All payments to be in by 16 February. Please come and talk to Mrs Rae if you have any questions or there are any barriers to you being able to pay for a hoodie.

DYW Padlet (Mrs Whyte)
This is now the time of year when employers start to look for apprentices/ employees. Recent feedback from employers have said that alongside qualifications they are looking for “A person that is willing to learn and go that extra mile. Someone who has an interest and cares about the work they do.” Could that be you?

Apprenticeships and job adverts are being added to the Padlet all the time including currently Diageo, Babcock, EDF and Lloyds Banking Group.

Lessons are on today in the Music department. You can find your time on Teams or on the department timetable board.

S2-S4 Music Lunch Club (Mrs Duckett)
This now takes place in E10 every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

String Group (Mrs Simpson)
The String Group will take place on Thursday lunchtime in E13.

Calm Colouring Lunch Club (Ms Geddes/Miss Millar)
If you would like a calm space to have lunch and do a bit of colouring, with the option to chat through any questions with our Mental Health Ambassadors, then this is the club for you! Head along to A3 (Science) where Miss Millar and Ms Geddes will have all the resources you need to chill out and recharge for the afternoon ahead. Today from 1:10pm.

S1 & S2 Netball (Mrs Steedman)
Training will be afterschool every Thursday starting this week from 3:30-4:15pm.

Film & Media Study Support (Mr McPherson)
Film and Media study support for S3 is on today after school in Studio 1.

FRIDAY 27 JANUARY

This now takes place in E10 every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

Card Club (Mrs Rae)
Come along to the PSO base at lunchtime to play various card games and make new friends. Maybe your friends are off, and you have nowhere to go or you see yourself as a real “card shark” all are very welcome!

Wind Band (Mrs Simpson)
The Wind Band will take place on Friday lunchtime in E13/Dance Studio.

Health Zone Drop In (Mrs Davidson)
Every Friday lunchtime, the school nurse team run a confidential drop in session. They are situated behind the careers room opposite the main office.

S1 Reading Group (Miss Britton)
S1 Reading Group during Friday lunchtimes in room B23. It’s a chance to practice reading out loud.

Have Lunch with A Hero! (Mrs Brown)
The swords and sandals are back, by popular demand! Bring your lunch along to C11, if you’d like to watch this classic with monsters by Ray Harryhausen.
